Number Six to voice Black Cat in Web of Shadows

Far Cry 2 and Web of Shadows achievements

Achievement lovers gather 'round, we have some freshly new achievements to share that are solely related to Far Cry 2 and Spider-man: Web of Shadows. Intrigued? If so, you can click your way to the complete list of achievements via the links below, but be warned. The Spider-man achievements are yawn inducing and Far Cry 2's are, well, aren't all that bad. The Mapper achievement and its mention of "validation" makes us raise an eyebrow or two.

Video: symbiote Wolverine in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows

Whatever the answer is, we suggest you watch the (awesome) trailer after the break, in which Wolverine shows up near the end. Be sure to watch the whole video for a look at some great looking combat too.

Activision: Intellisponse leaks were only "concepts"

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows sort-of announced

It looks like Surfer Girl may have been right after all. Though Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is obviously a different name than "Red Vs Black" the ideas seem to be the same, and it's quite possible that "Red Vs Black" was just a working title anyway. Regardless, it does feel a bit strange to see a game for the first time thanks to a Gamestop advertisement. We just hope that releasing information this way isn't indicative of the game's quality or market strategy. A Spidey game with no movie ties, focused on the Venom/Spider-Man rivalry could be good, as long as the target is audience isn't in diapers.

Activision: 08 brings Bond, Guitar Hero, Spider-Man

Activision's recent conference call had about as many surprises in it as a holiday gift from Grandma. After setting record sales in 2007, both confusing and otherwise, Activision revealed plans for new entries into the Guitar Hero, Spider-Man and Tony Hawk franchises in 2008 as well as their first attempt at the James Bond license, with an adaptation of the latest Bond film, Quantum of Solace, in the pipeline.
According to a report in Variety, gamers should mark their calendars for up to three Guitar Hero releases, two add-ons and Guitar Hero IV in the fall, two game adaptations of the Dreamworks film Kung Fu Panda and one for the upcoming Madagascar 2, and new sequels to Tony Hawk, Call of Duty, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Spider-Man and the aforementioned Bond game. In fact, we recommend you keep your 2007 calendars and simply change the 7's to 8's. It would just be easier.

Spider-Man 3 is most popular on the 360
In the UK Spider-Man's console of choice is the Xbox 360. Activision's mediocre Spider-Man 3 swung its way to a multiplatform release including the 360, PS3, Wii, and PS2 among others. And when the UK sales figures were tallied the Xbox 360 version of the game accounted for a whopping 45% of total sales. The PS2 version (which looks just as good as the 360 version ... ouch) garnered 40% of the game's UK sales with the Wii totaling 10%.What's most interesting is how well the Xbox 360 version of the game sold even outselling the huge install base the PS2 has. Even more interesting is that the PS3 numbers for Spider-Man 3 sales are pretty much non-existent. Either the 360's community is the prime demographic for the Spider-Man franchise or it could be the largest next-gen console install base, we can't be sure. But we do know that Spider-Man 3 is one huge marketing machine with a box office to prove it.

Spider-Man 360 skins

In honor of Spider-Man 3 hitting game retailers and theatres near you this past weekend, DecalGirl has come out with a line of "Webslinger" skins for your electronic devices, most notably, the Xbox 360 console, controller, and HD DVD player accessory. All in all they look pretty solid, and the pricing isn't terrible, as you can choose how much of your console you want to skin. Hopefully they'll come with a Venom themed variation of the skin, as that would be pretty badass. You open to skinning your 360 Spidey style?

Spider-Man 3 catches Achievements, akin to flies

The sleuths over at Xbox 360 Achievements uncovered the Achievement list for May's Spider-Man 3. Looking over the list, it seems to cover all the free-roaming and mission based aspects of the game, similar to Crackdown, but in an SM context. A cool thing we're seeing for the first time is a secret achievement that is simply listed as one in the details that isn't actually "hidden". Our guess is that it has to do with the symbiote costume and/or your actions with it.
So, we leave you with three queries. First, are you looking forward to going through the trick races and completing all the side quests for some Gamerscore goodness. Second, why does the gamer in question not have the "Master Web Swinger" Achievement if he's got the preceding and following ones? Finally, does the tendency for Spider-Man films and movies releasing in May have anything to do with the title character's Aunt?
New shots of Spider-Man 3

Gamertag Radio has posted some new screens of Spider-Man 3. Releasing this summer alongside the movie, Spider-Man 3 promises to return to the incredible gameplay and swing dynamics of Spider-Man 2. While the video we've seen so far is a little too pastel for our taste, there is no denying that webslinging, when done well, is some of the most fun you can have playing a video game. Here's hoping the game (and the movie) deliver. Hit the "read" link to check out the shots.
