Activision's recent conference call had about as many surprises in it as a holiday gift from Grandma. After setting record sales in 2007, both confusing and otherwise, Activision revealed plans for new entries into the Guitar Hero, Spider-Man and Tony Hawk franchises in 2008 as well as their first attempt at the James Bond license, with an adaptation of the latest Bond film, Quantum of Solace, in the pipeline.
According to a report in Variety, gamers should mark their calendars for up to three Guitar Hero releases, two add-ons and Guitar Hero IV in the fall, two game adaptations of the Dreamworks film Kung Fu Panda and one for the upcoming Madagascar 2, and new sequels to Tony Hawk, Call of Duty, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Spider-Man and the aforementioned Bond game. In fact, we recommend you keep your 2007 calendars and simply change the 7's to 8's. It would just be easier.

It would be WAY better if Activision released tons of DLC, and every 2 months sold a cheaper-than-retail game with all the downloadable content that can be transfered to your HDD easily. Instead of, lets take the SAME game, change the graphics slightly, add some songs no one has ever played, but only sell the package for the first 3 months so everyone has to buy a new guitar if they want it instantly... ok now I am just rambling.
But REALLY, they should give up on the TH series... come on now, does anyone like that game AFTER playing skate?
I'm happy about CoD5 though, hoping for a longer story line, and that it still goes for modern combat and not WWII or something similar.

CoD3 was poor compared to CoD2. But it wasn't exactly butchered, just badly made, it was still fun to play until you encountered an indestructable enemy at the top of a stair case lobbing Frags down at you shouting in a Camp German Accent.
Thankfully I don't think I encountered anything like that in CoD4, but that is because IW seemed to have realised how irritating they had made CoD2 in places.

GH 4 this year eh? Yeah its a rental at best, unless its got killer songs and mimics rockband and then some perfectly. I goto Rockband the other day and I exprienced something I rarely got from GH3, fun. Pure fun, no frustration from rediclous note charts or whored out DLC that's way over priced too.

First "music simulator" I've played is/was GH3. I like it, great songs and something my girlfriend plays. In fact that is one of the things she got for Christmas from me. Asked her which she would prefer and she said GH3 no question. Not only does she not care for drumming on plastic or singing but she hates MTV. I honestly feel the same way so GH3 is perfect for us. Has cooperative play and all that good stuff as well. We also have a karaoke machine so really there is no reason to buy Rockband for us.

In the end Rockband is made by Harmonix, which is the company who MADE Giutar Hero, the game you bought was Guitar Hero: Now being whored by Activision and missing the soul of its creators because they left to do better games. There is no way GH4, 5 or what ever number can be better than Rockband if they keep chugging out new retail versions, they need to inovate, put new things in and all that stuff.

I'm not an idiot either, I know all about harmonix and their work. Is it possible that we did not want to pay 169 dollars for something that included two devices we wouldn't use? Sounds a little silly to me. Sure I could buy the game alone and spend another 59.99 on a Guitar Hero II guitar but then I'd be spending more than I would on a brand new Guitar Hero III bundle with the wireless guitar. Clearly you're an angry fanboy who can't see how someone could like anything other than Rock Band. I hate people who twist words.

I have nothing against sequels, some of my favourite games are Call of Duty games.
The problem is when a franchise is ruined. The other day I was reminded about Spy Hunter, that was a great game on the PS2, one of the best I have played, the sequel was utter tripe, and Nowhere to Run as far as I know had you playing as the Rock and just running around not in a car.
I haven't played many Activision games on the 360, but one of the ones I have been waiting for a sequel to is Quake. Quake 4 was a very good game, and I think ID need to make another one, but I doubt Activision cares about a sequel to a game that didn't sell that many copies.

I hate the fact that companies like EA release sports games every year charging people $60 for the same game with different graphics, players, and the control scheme might be slightly adjusted. I wish they would just open source the games so when the next year comes the new players are automatically put in through updates and whatnot. Then charge $100 and make it last for at least three years. I think it would be a great idea. Look at EA. All their sales are going down compared to previous years. It's because most people don't want to keep buying different versions of the same game.

The issue here is that COD5 isn't going to be made by Infinity Ward. The company behind the awesome COD4 and COD2. They didn't do any greatness to COD3 and after COD4, they just wont be able to. People will play COD4 still instead if they know anything.
At least Activision isn't forcing Infinity Ward to put out another COD already. Thus, they wont tarnish their great name.

I agree with Anticrawl, RB is too expensive when i really dont care for the drums or the singing. And yes GH has some CRAZY note charts, but thats what makes it fun for me. The first time i nailed Knights of Cydonia on hard was a moment of triumph i hadnt felt in a game since I beat FFVII the first time. I like to be challenged by my games to some degree, and RB's note charts are ridiculously simple. I feel like im playing a level down then the one I am playing at.
I will admit, when it comes to parties and having a few friends over drinks, RB can be massively entertaining, far more so than GH.
And Activision really needs get on the ball with DLC. Every one of the track packs, next to the Foo Fighters one, is utter garbage, overpriced, and seeing them only every 2 months is fucking crazy. And GHAerosmith will suck balls. That is obviously an attempt to just cash in by making us pay another $40-50.
Where have all the good developers gone?
