In about 30 minutes, members of Call of Duty 4's development team from Infinity Ward will be logging onto Xbox Live to pwn some n00bs game with fans of CoD4 in an Xbox.com sponsored Game with Developers event. An event that goes hand in hand with the double XP weekend and the Variety Map Pack being discounted 50% for the weekend.
Around nine Infinity Ward employees including artists, studio heads and the one and only Fourzertwo will be playing CoD4 TODAY from 3-7:00PM eastern. Make the jump for a listing of gamertags and be sure to spam the heck out of their Live inboxes. We're sure they'd love you for that.
Attention cyber-soldiers: Infinity Ward has dropped word that the Call of Duty 4: Modern WarfareVariety Map pack will be made available for half price (400MS points) this weekend. Attempting to gain popularity for the struggling title, players will also be able to earn Double XP during ranked games beginning September 12, 12AM PDT and running through September 14 at midnight -- the same time-frame for the discounted maps.
If you'd like to show your support for a title that barely made a splash during its release downloading the four map package would be a nice start. Infinity Ward needs your help and are even offering Limited Edition Prestige gamerpics for free as yet another bonus. Save a developer. Help this struggling franchise. Oh, wait. We were thinking of Soldier Of Fortune for some reason. Never mind, Modern Warfare sold like a bajillion copies.
Ed. Note: Bajillion is SO a word.
Holy Xbox Live Marketplace downloads soldier! Infinity Ward and Activision just gloated (and rightfully so) that the Call of Duty 4Variety Map Pack DLC has shattered XBLM download records. Within' nine days of being released, one million paid downloads were accounted for with players logging in 30 million plus hours of gameplay. No wonder Xbox Live crashed when the map pack released ... AMAZING!
Thinking about it, at 800 MS points a pop, the Variety Map Pack alone generated $10 million in sales in a little over a week. And that was just for four multiplayer maps! Crazy stuff. Congrats to Infinity Ward on a job well done and congrats to CoD4 players for keeping the community high atop the Xbox Live charts for so long. Also, with these sales, you can almost guarantee another CoD4 map pack will see a release in the not too distant future.
After a whole bunch of release dateconfusion, awkwardness and waiting. Your Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack is finally here! Available for purchase off the Xbox Live Marketplace, the 800 Microsoft point Variety Map Pack includes four additional multiplayer maps to give your CoD4 gaming experience more ... variety. Creek, Chinatown, Broadcast and Killhouse all await your 444MB download. You've waited long enough, you've been patient, now go get 'em soldier ...
Update: Infinity Ward's 1.3 million number is referring to the average number of gamers (not games) that log onto Xbox Live daily to play CoD4. Apologies for the confusion.
The Xbox Live supremacy mud-slinging gets taken to a new level today with Infinity Ward comparing how many Xbox Live gamers log in to play games ofCall of Duty 4 versus its rival Halo 3. And let's just say there are bunches.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Infinity Ward producer Mark Rubin revealed that nearly 1.3 million gamers games of play CoD4 each and every day via Xbox Live alone. That gigantic number eclipses Halo 3's gamer base which hovers around the 1 million mark every day. Rubin also wanted to make sure that we understood that the 1.3 million number was just gamers who play on the 360 and that "there's even more on the other platforms [PS3 and PC], but we just don't have the same numbering system. Overall, even without the other consoles, we are beating the competition."
You hear that Halo 3 fanboys? You better start logging more games, gathering up your friends and relatives or claim Xbox Live defeat to your CoD4 conquerors. CoD4 has been highatop theLiveleaderboards for the past few months now and has been getting cocky. And rightfully so.

Just as they did prior to Call of Duty 4's release back in October, Activision and Gamestop are hosting a Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack preview event that'll allow gamers to be the first to play the new Variety Map Pack DLC. The bad news is that only two events are being held in all of North America, one in New York and one in San Jose. But if you live in or around those cities, then make the jump to get all the details and head over to one of the two Gamestop events tonight to play the new DLC before its April 3rd release. Also, Gamestop will be handing out free goodies, holding a few giveaways and handing out Variety Map Pack redemption tokens to the first 100 attendees at each event. So, that alone may be worth the travel.

For those who still have yet to jump into the modern warfare battlefield, then we advise holding off on a Call of Duty 4 purchase for another month, because a new SKU will be hitting retail shelves soon.
Yesterday, Activision announced that they'll be releasing a Call of Duty 4 Game of the Year edition which will feature updated box art as well as an Xbox Live redemption token to download this Spring's upcoming multiplayer map DLC for free. A redemption token worth 800 Microsoft points. Acti didn't mention a firm release date for this special GOTY edition or if it'll be released on any other gaming platforms. And we hope it doesn't. We're greedy fanboys who want everything for ourselves.
As most of you know, team Infinity Ward is jumping head first into the DLC pool by bringingtfour new multiplayer maps to the Call of Duty 4 community sometime this Spring. One of the four new CoD4 maps being a remake of the uber popular CoD2 map Carentan, now prettified, set in Chinatown and is called ... Chinatown. Fitting. And Mr. fourzerotwo himself (with the help of Geoff Keeley) has just given us our first glimpse of all the Chinatown action with the release of a teaser video which we've embedded above. Watch, drool, look at the pretty lights and wait patiently for tomorrow. Fourzerotwo promises that new Call of Duty 4 DLC details will hit the news wire and it'll make a gigantic news KABLAAM!
Our good friend Tyler over at Gearheads of War got a chance to corner (literally corner) Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling to discuss everything Call of Duty 4 (yes, Gearheads can like CoD4 too). Among the topics brought up in the interview were Infinity Ward's development concerns with weapon balancing, perk implementation, how to best balance the upgrade system and they talk about CoD4's upcoming Spring DLC as well. Lead Gearhead Tyler even "goes there" with Mr. Bowling, asking tough questions including why the three grenade perk can only be earned so late in the ranking cycle, why the M-16 seems so damn overpowered and if (looking back) Infinity Ward is satisfied with keeping all the achievements focused on the single player campaign. And, for the record, they are still happy with that decision. Make your way over to Gearheads of War to read the complete interview, get CoD4 learned and see if Infinity Ward backs down from a Gearheads issued CoD4 Friday FragFest challenge. Jump already!
Just arriving in our press release inbox is news from Activision that they're planning on releasing their first ever Call of Duty 4 downloadable content this Spring. The new DLC will usher in a few new multiplayer maps to the CoD4 gaming community via download off the XBLM, but other than that, mum is the word. Neither Activision or Infinity Ward have detailed how many new multiplayer maps will be released, what the DLC pricing will be or an exact date for the new content's release. But we're sure CoD4 fanboys will be happy with whatever Infinity Ward makes available in the months to come and hell, we have faith in them too. Long live affordable and relevant DLC! W00t!

Update: Upon further analysis, we aren't sure what the heck Activision is smoking. Not only did they already claimGHIII to be "the best-selling video game of all time in a single calendar year", but there's also a little game called Halo 3 that sold over 8.1 million copies. Hmm, something stinks over at camp Acti.
Earlier this morning, Activision stood high atop their gold pedestal and gloated to the media masses (via the use of a handy press release) that its money making, cash cow Call of Duty 4 was the most purchased video game in 2007. According to Acti and all the sales numbers, CoD4 has sold in excess of seven million copies across all platforms worldwide since its November release. And we believe it. Infinity Ward definitely hit a home run with CoD4 and should be living the good life with all the positiveCoD4 news making the media rounds. If we were them, we'd hold out our hands and demand a raise or, at the very least, an in-studio roller coaster.

Posted over on the official Infinity Ward forums, community relations guru fourzerotwo informs us that the Call of Duty 4 team has plans to release a title update for the game and previews some of the changes.
The main focus of the title update will be to upgrade and improve both the game's Xbox Live matchmaking and host selection (thank lord!), but it will also include a few gameplay enhancements as a bonus. Highlights from the upcoming update include host migration, addition of "N0M4D" control scheme, identification of party by background color and the fixing of various lobby related bugs. You can view the complete list of upcoming CoD4 changes after the break, but know that you'll have to contain your excitement for a bit. Infinity Ward has yet to announce a release date for the update, so begin your waiting ritual ... now!
Check it out! Check out the video above and try and tell us that the guys over at Infinity Ward haven't gone out of their way to create one helluva game. If it's not obvious already, Call of Duty 4 will include an Arcade Mode (complete with next gen yet very old school NES menus) in which you'll get to mow down wave after wave of baddies. It comes complete with scoring, multipliers and crazy amounts of fun, so we're more than comfortable in giving Infinity Ward an official X3F pat on the back ... conglaturations!
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be here in a few days, but we know some of you are too excited to wait. Too excited to wait for your copy to arrive and too excited to ignore any official or leaked details. That's why we wanted to tell you about some screenshots detailing CoD4 multiplayer goodness.
Thanks to AVSPics and their sneaky means of obtaining an early copy of CoD4 (on the PS3, eesh!), they've posted all kinds of screenshots that help answer some the game's multiplayer questions. Using the links below, you can check out the names and descriptions of all 16 multiplayer maps, a list of multiplayer weapons and get a glimpse of the game's visuals with other random screenshots. It's a multiplayer CoD4 fanboy's treasure chest of warfare! Snoop around, get some information and wait few days ... your copy of CoD4 is so close, we can even smell it from here.
