We don't hate this Wii song parody

Sarcastic Gamer is up to their usual antics and released the song parody of Eminem's "Hi! My Name Is" entitled "I Hate This Wii". Yes, we find it hilarious and think you shall download it for a good laugh too. But before a flame war surfaces and the whole state of California goes up in flames we should say this; We've previously mentioned Sarcastic Gamer's "The Ring of Fire" song which makes fun of the Xbox 360, their "No Frickin' Games" song mocking the PS3 and even a parody of Microsoft's Surface. So, it's only right that the Nintendo Wii get its feelings hurt a little too. Come on guys, fanboys can laugh at eachother especially when it's in musical form and the production is this top notch. Ahh screw it, flame away!

Keys to Xbox 360 world domination

Here's a question for you. What do you think Microsoft should do to guarantee that the Xbox 360 will remain king among the video game industry? It's an interesting question and the guys over at GameDaily BIZ aren't afraid to express their opinions. In summary, GameDaily BIZ thinks Microsoft needs to cut the 360's price before the holidays, beating Sony to a possible PS3 price cut, and maybe stealing some of the Wii's "cheap console" thunder. They also feel Microsoft should make Xbox Live free, get more exclusives, and that they should consider making a special Halo 3 Xbox 360 bundle. You know, because Halo 3 is kick-butt.

All their ideas are pretty good and would nearly guarantee more console sales, but would they be beneficial from a business perspective? You know, the whole cost versus return thing. Well, we aren't sure if there is a right or wrong answer to what Microsoft should be doing, but we'd love to hear your ideas. So, we ask you again. What do you think Microsoft should be doing to guarantee a next gen console win?

Man wins 360 from Stacker machine

Making the internet rounds the other day was a video posted by our little brother site Nintendo Wii Fanboy. They posted a video of a group of kids winning a Nintendo Wii (the grand prize) at local mall's Stacker game. Not only were we impressed by the amount of vulgarities coming out of their mouths, but how crazy lucky they were.

But our grand prize of choice from a Stacker machine would have to be an Xbox 360, so where's the cool video showing an excitable group of kids winning a 360? With a goal in mind, we YouTubed all night and finally stumbled upon the video above. For your viewing pleasure, this is the X3F version of winning a grand prize from a Stacker machine, minus all those cool f bombs and such. Enjoy the Stacker video fun whether it be winning a Wii or a 360, we're all friends around these parts.

Crackdown leads game sales in February [update 1]

GameDaily BIZ posted the just released February NPD sales numbers which show that Xbox 360 software is selling quite nicely. Overall, things are looking bright for video games as the industry is up 66% over last year with hardware and software sales on the rise. Crackdown led the month's sales moving 427K units, with other 360 titles like Gears of War and Lost Planet in the top ten. The Xbox 360 is also moving a fair amount of consoles beating out an under-performing PS3, 295K units to 228K 228K units to 127K.

It's great to see our little boy Crackdown succeed in February and four other Xbox 360 games place in the top ten. Though, we wonder, with the Nintendo Wii selling so well (485K 335K units) does Microsoft have to shift its focus away from Sony and watch Nintendo to protect its next gen lead? Only time will tell, but we're confident that our white box can fend for itself simply by the games that will be released for it in 2007. A full list of NPD's February sales rankings for hardware and software is after the break.

Update 1: Fixified the comparison numbers between the 360 and PS3 ... and the Wii. Math is hard.

It's a gaming sing along! How to Kill a Brand [update 1]

We try and bring you interesting Xbox 360 related news without all that fanboy hatred. You know, we're the popular kids on the playground without being nasty and making fun of our peers. But when we stumble across a YouTube video that blends console humor, interesting lyrics, and a guy singing in tune ... we just have to let you know about it. Think of it as a tribute to all next generation gaming systems from all walks of life and a chance to celebrate your fanboy'ism. So, without further ado, we present to you the above music video "How to Kill a Brand" by Doc Adams.

Update 1: Fixed our adieu so it was more like ado.

Xbox 360 January sales higher than last year

Microsoft commented on preliminary January console sales stating that they sold 18% more 360s than last January. Reports are citing that 294,000 Xbox 360s were sold in January, where as last January 250,000 were sold. This of course could have been due to the lack of consoles in the marketplace last year, but who's to say? Also, Bloomberg is reporting that the Nintendo Wii sold 426,000 units and the Playstation 3 moved 244,000 in January. It's also interesting to note that the Xbox 360 had the highest drop off from December where it shipped over 1.3 million units.

It's good to see that the 360 is outselling the PS3 and isn't letting its disappointing Japanese performance hinder its chances at console supremacy. But after watching the Wii make up so much ground in the last few months, does Microsoft have to worry about the Wii taking the next gen console crown?

Capcom shows some 360 love

Buried under Capcom's investor relations financial data they've supplied a nice graph and chart comparing their game releases for each console. What's interesting to see is how many games they have lined up for the 360 for the period ending March 2007. They are banking on released six games for the 360 and hope to move a reasonable 2.2 million units, compared to the PS3 which will only be getting three games and is forecasted to sell a measly 250,000 units. And it's curious to note that they have no Nintendo Wii games listed, so we're thinking they have a bitter taste in their mouth when it comes to Mario. Oh, and look at how many PS2 games they're releasing, 33! Not only are they supporting a last gen console, but a last gen Sony console ... you know what that says about the PS3 right now.

Important or not, surfing the net on your 360

Today news broke that the beta version of the Nintendo Wii's internet browser became available, which got us a thinking. Early next year Wii owners will have access to a fully functioning internet browser and the Playstation 3 has had a browser built-in since day one. Our questions is rather simple, do you desire internet surfing capabilities on your Xbox 360? To us it seems a tad odd that out of all the next gen consoles the 360 is the only one that lacks the ability to surf the net. It isn't like Microsoft doesn't have instant access to an internet browser and a bajillion lines of code, but maybe they didn't include it on purpose. Maybe Microsoft has been focusing solely on creating a video game media hub all along and doesn't want to taint the console with internet capabilities, which would make it seem more computer-like. Whatever the reason is we can't surf the net on our 360, but I ask again ... would you use the internet browser if it were available in the near future or is the lack of this feature really not that big of a deal to you?

Ouch, low demand for the PS3

Last year the Xbox 360 was flying off of shelves left and right, none to be found until after the holidays. Heck, this year the Nintendo Wii is impossible to find. But what about our beloved Playstation 3? According to game industry the PS3's demand has already dwindled as there are PS3s in stock, on store shelves, and waiting to be purchased. By no means are we saying that you can go into any retailer and pick up a Playstation 3. Instead we're saying that Playstations are in stock for a longer period of time, eBay prices have gone so low it doesn't pay to put them up, and few consumers are willing to purchase overpriced bundle packages. We're not mud slinging, just looking at the facts (remember, the Wii is doing great in sales, we admit it!). So, do you know anyone who is interested in purchasing a PS3 this Christmas, how much they are willing to pay, and what they are most looking forward to with the console? Enlighten us and we'll pass on your suggestions or comments directly to Sony ... right.

Weirdest gaming console names ... Xbox 360?

Games.net has a write up about what they feel are the weirdest game console names ... ever. Not only does the Xbox 360 make the list at number five, but somehow the Nintendo Wii came in at the bottom of the list at number ten. Not only that, but according to Games.net the Xbox 360 name is more weird than the GameCube, Dreamcast, CDi, and N-Gage. We just don't get it ... don't you remember all the hoopla over the Nintendo Wii's (I don't even know the plural form of Wii for monkey sake!) name? Ahh screw it, the Xbox 360's name is sexy and we all know it. At least our white box of fun wasn't called the ColecoVision 360 ... we totally dodged a bullet there.

What if GoW was on the Wii?

The other day I got my hands on a Nintendo Wii, played a little Wii sports and nearly chucked the controller through the TV. Big deal you say, this is Xbox 360 Fanboy, not tell me your experience with the Wii fanboy. Again, point taken. But I was thinking, what if Gears of War was on the Wii? Do you think it would work or just be awkward? Rolling around your living room, popping up behind the living room couch, raising your hands for a little chainsaw action ... maybe. Then again, that sounds like a lot of exercise and sweating. I'll stick to Gears of War on my 360, what about you?

Weekend console sales winner, Xbox 360?

Unless you were hiding under a rock this past weekend, you know that hundreds of thousands of gaming consoles were sold due to the release of both the PS3 and Wii. But what you may not have heard in the media is that the 360' sales were extremely impressive, even greater than that of the newer consoles. MSN news is reporting that when frustrated customers, who were looking to purchase either a PS3 or Wii, couldn't get there hands on them, they simply snatched up a 360 instead. Have you had friends or family express interest in a 360 due to the lack of availability of the other next gen consoles?

MS wants EU to see 360 next to PS3

In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Microsoft's Neil Thompson said he wishes gamers in Europe could see a 360 right next to the PS3 this Christmas. That is, he wants consumers to finally be able to make direct comparisons, so that they can decide what they really want. According to Thompson, "Sometimes it's worse when you're fighting a myth, than when you're fighting reality." He's speaking to the much publicized capabilities of the PS3, including the Blu-ray drive. He seems confident that when consumers compare the consoles side by side, paying a premium for Blu-ray out of the box won't seem like such a rosy proposition -- of course he says this while noting that consumers can upgrade the 360 to HD DVD should they choose to do so. Thompson also takes time to throw a few unexpected jabs at Nintendo's upcoming Wii, claiming that it's not a competitor to the 360 and is in fact "a kids toy" -- innovative, but still a toy.

While Europeans won't be making any direct comparisons this holiday (and maybe not next March either), American consumers can start as early as next Friday. Will any of our 360 Fanboys be gunning for a PS3 next week? (It's okay, we won't judge you.)
