Unless you were hiding under a rock this past weekend, you know that hundreds of thousands of gaming consoles were sold due to the release of both the PS3 and Wii. But what you may not have heard in the media is that the 360' sales were extremely impressive, even greater than that of the newer consoles. MSN news is reporting that when frustrated customers, who were looking to purchase either a PS3 or Wii, couldn't get there hands on them, they simply snatched up a 360 instead. Have you had friends or family express interest in a 360 due to the lack of availability of the other next gen consoles?
Weekend console sales winner, Xbox 360?

6. Why not 360s are pretty much reliable and have lots of stuff to try out including upcoming tv and movie content.

7. Wal-Mart's really pushing the 360 core system; displays are everywhere.

8. There's a quote in the article and they don't mention who it's by. Sounds like a lot of biased news IMO. I'll believe it when I see it reported somewhere else.

9. What I meant to say was, it reads a lot more like a PR release than news.

10. I know at my work 4 people went to BestBuy at lunch on Friday and got a 360 because no one wanted a PS3 and the 360 bundles where so good. My cousin also went to BestBuy and scored a premium 360 with gears, graw, and the arcade pack, plus an extra controller for $450 CAN. Considering a premium system normally sells for $500 CAN up here, I can believe this report.

11. I was in Target and they had no 360's at all. And this was right before the let the Wii guys outside come in.

12. To me, the report seems plausible. My friend wanted to buy a PS3, but he couldn't find one, so he bought a 360 and Gears. I was split between the 360 and Wii. I went to BestBuy and they were sold out of Wii's, which pretty much made my decision. Bought a 360 and Gears, then went home and played Co-op (the absolute BEST way to play GoW.)

13. Pretty much every store in Dallas has been completely filled up to the brim with 360s lately, but the console has certainly been a great seller since it's launch here.

14. i know more then a few people who did not get a Wii or a PS3 but did buy a 360 and gears( like two people i know did not buy gears, they got graw or SC instead) anyways this is most likly true, most systems all over the place and people just want to play something next gen since its time

15. Hmm, makes some sense. I was at Best Buy Saturday night looking for DOAX2, and saw two people picking up 360s right then within 10 minutes of each other. They didn't have DOAX2. Now, I wonder how well the DS sold compared to the 360. I bought one of those, since I couldn't get DOAX2.

16. I went to best buy last Saturday to buy my dad an mp3 player and i saw a guy buy two xbox 360s premiums and like 8 different games. I asked him about them and he said one was for himself the other for his son in college for Christmas.

17. I wish my dad would do that

18. I can completely see this happening. As a matter of fact, my personal interest in the 360 skyrocketed when I went to check out the Wii and noticed 2 pallets/skids of XBox 360 consoles shoved in the corner of Fry's behind the Nintendo DS and lame DDR mat. I was wondering why on earth the store didn't make it more attractive to consumers considering other vendors (creative, and sony) were demoing other technologies. The Guitar Hero II display was more pronounced than the Xbox360. That said, I wondered why and have been doing some reading on the unit and am now considering purchasing one just for the MCE Extender capabilities and the design of the GPU.
That said, I am also a loyal sony consumer and try to get the consoles at launch for ONE specific reason.. weak and exploitable firmware. My final decesion to buy a 360 will depend on how much is planned, and what can be exploited.

19. Everyone i know wants a PS3 to sell it. They want a Wii to play it. And they are considering getting a X360 because i let them try Gears of war and they almost dropped a nut right there. Honestly though, most people dont have HD TV's so they all want the Wii. Plus its easily the most fun and draws a crowd.

20. Draws a crowd?
That's a valid argument for, say, the arcade version of DDR, but it's not a reason to have something at home.

1. Umm.. From what I seen in our area, I dont agree.. Yes I may have bought GoW:CE, but I seen alot of 360s just sittin on the shelf.. I seen alot of ppl leaving stores empty handed too..
But I guess that must have just been my area..
