It's Sunday, it's time for a weekly deals roundup, so let's get to it.
This week, Best Buy has GRID on sale for $50, is giving away free movie cash with the purchase of Hellboy II or Wall-E and is giving out a free copy of the Aerosmith: Greatest Hits album with the purchase of ANY Guitar Hero: Aerosmith game or bundle. Circuit City has 4000 MS point cards for $45, LEGO Indiana Jones for $43, GTAIV for $55 and are giving away a free guitar strap with any Guitar Hero: Aerosmith purchase. Finally, just like Best Buy, Target is handing out a free copy of Aerosmith: Greatest Hits CD with any Guitar Hero: Aerosmith purchase. As always, feel free to share any deals or discounts you have to share in the comments below.
Heading into the weekend, you'll have plenty of demo fun to participate in as Lucas Arts just released a new LEGO Indiana Jones demo to the Xbox Live Marketplace. You'll be pleased to know that the demo is available to all Xbox Live regions and clocks in at a worthy 620MB. Indeed. Not much more can be said about LEGO Indy other than the fact that it's LEGO based, moderately entertaining and (sadly) doesn't include any mention of Harrison Ford or Shia LaBeouf. What a wasted opportunity.
Hey Canadians, thinking about getting your father into gaming? While our dads can barely program the VCR, yours may possess the keen insight to pull off a 100-hit combo in Ninja Gaiden II. It's finally here kids. Yes, it's the granddaddy of all ninja simulators, Ninja Gaiden. This particular entry in the series is somewhat anachronistically titled Ninja Gaiden II. We can tell you unreservedly (and from experience) that it is glorious in execution. It's also goriest in executions. Eviscerations abound as gamers take on the role of Ryu Hayabusa, the superest of all super ninjas. But wait, what's that? There are more games shipping this week and they don't all suck? Whoa. Imagine our surprise. Behold this week's list:
You've been waiting for it and now it's finally here. It's Sunday deals time where we dig through the Sunday newspaper, pull out the retail ads for the week, toss the actual news part of the newspaper in the garbage, look for Xbox 360 deals and share with you our findings. It's always good times! So, let's get to the money savings fun ...
Let's get the best part out of the way right now. Every single achievement in LEGO Indiana Jones is named after a line from the films. From the well-known "Why did it have to be snakes?" to "He chose... poorly," the lines run the gamut of all the films released thus far. There are a total of fifty achievements to earn, ranging in point values from 10 to 100 points. The single 100 point achievement is awarded for reaching a 100% completion level. If the LEGO Star Wars games were any indication, reaching 100% will take a significant time investment. Oh, and we hope you like secret achievements, because there are sixteen of them. Hit the "read" link to check out the list on 360Sync.
The official LEGO Indywebsite features your standard array of game screenshots, videos and community forums, but also boasts a lil' treasure hunt where you can use your newly discovered gems to "purchase" wallpapers, avatars and (our favorite) coloring sheets! The new trailer (embedded above) gives curious LEGO Indy fans a look at what's to come, including the occasional ride on a LEGO elephant and tons of whip usage. So much whip use that one has to wonder if whipping things can become an addiction. Whips Anonymous anyone?

Earlier today, Activision announced that LEGO: Indiana Jones will be headed to European retailers on Friday, June 6th and (we're guessing) to North America on the 3rd. And if that sounds familiar, it's because we sort of already knew about the June 6th release when, earlier last month, UK GAME stores let slip the release via a promotional press release. But now we have the release date confirmed, straight from Acti's mouth and nobody can argue it. And no arguing about four player co-op either, because we've already been informed that it's 2 player co-op. Mmkay?
Whipping into retail soon is Lego Indiana Jones: The Video Game, from the makers of the über-popular Lego Star Wars series. The title features gameplay pulled from the story of all three classic Indy films and if the video above is any indication, the humor and reference homages will be front and center. Set to hit retail on the Xbox 360 and pretty much every other console under the sun this Summer, the developers at Traveller's Tales look to continue their streak of solid licensed releases. Now someone get them to actually make that Lego Halo game EGM joked about, like ASAP.
Update: We knew there was a reason we quit drinking. We posted this story earlier in the week, that's what we get for going to $9 beer night.
UK retailer Play.com just let slip some release date details for the not so four player co-op LEGO: Indiana Jones. Simply put, the game should release sometime around June 6th.
LEGO: Indy's release date details were leaked via Play.com's recently announced Play.com Live event where, in their press release, revealed that LEGO: Indy would be playable at the event and that the game would be "on sale June 6th on all consoles". Using that nugget of knowledge, Eurogamer contacted Activision who refused to comment on the June release date, but they then confirmed with their "Top Secret Senior Games Industry Source" that the June release is indeed fact. So, even though it isn't the official word from Acti, one could expect to experience LEGO boulder running this June.
To go with today's earlier story about Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures we bring you the latest piece of footage released by Lucasarts. The clip begins in a cutscene that displays the quirky humor that the Lego games have become know for, then moves into gameplay where we see the whip in action alongside the usual brick-breaking Lego action. After a few minutes the gameplay cuts to the infamous boulder scene and we get to see the characters run toward the screen while jumping over spikes, pits and more. Despite the increase in number of games for the IP (don't forget, there's going to be a Lego MMO) it seems that the quality across the board remains high, with everything from level design to humor to reward systems all looking to be worth their while. It's just too bad that Lego Halo game turned out to be fake.
For those big Indiana Jones fans out there who were thinking of picking up the DVD box set of the original trilogy, it will be seeing a little something extra in that box on May 13. The special edition boxed set is set to come with a trailer and demo of the forthcoming game, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, which is itself set to be released almost a month later on the 3rd of June. Unfortunately, our European readers are out of luck on this, as the promotion applies only to Region 1 discs, but it is likely that there will be a demo released via XBLM, after all, Lego Star Wars had a demo. With the new movie set to open worldwide a week after the special edition boxed sets, one would think that Lucasarts would've that promotion worldwide too. Oh well.

We'll apologize in advance to those fanboys who have an obsessive love of the LEGO franchise and were looking forward to LEGO: Indiana Jones' four player online co-op. True, it was "confirmed" a few days ago by the crew over at MTV Multiplayer, but we've since learned that four player co-op has been ... "un-confirmed".
MTV Multiplayer just posted a mild retraction after a LEGO: Indy producer cleared up the four player miscommunication. The new official details state that the game will allow for four players to be on the screen at once, but only two players can be controlled at any given time. Not four. And really, that's a big bummer. We guess we'll just have to stick with Halo 3 if we want four player co-op shenanigans. Stupid bricks.

The ever enthusiast crew over at MTV Multiplayer recently received some hands on time with Traveller's Tales' upcoming LEGO: Indiana Jones and whilst deep in their brick adventure, learned an interesting co-op tidbit. Traveller's confirmed that LEGO: Indy will join the Halo 3's of the world in becoming a rarity among all games by allowing gamers to play their Indiana Jones adventure online with up to three other friends. That's right, four player LEGO online co-op! We love us our online co-op ... yum!
