There's lots of gaming deals this weeks, so let's hop right into it. The big new release this Tuesday is
Call of Duty 4 and the top gaming retailers are all offering up the goods. If you purchase
CoD4 at Target they'll give you a $5 gift card, Best Buy will give you a free
Behind Enemy Lines DVD as part of their exclusive
CoD4 Ultimate Box Set and they're also offering a $20 instant savings if you purchase the game with a 360 wireless headset. But we think the
CoD4 deal crown goes to Circuit City this week, because they're going crazy nuts giving away a poster and
Call of Duty 3 with purchase.
Other deals you want? Okay ... let's keep going. Best Buy's other deal is a free $10 gift card with
F.E.A.R. Files, but that's about it from them. Over at Circuit City this week you can pick up a $29
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary, a $39
Gears of War (PC) and a $39
Virtua Fighter 5. That's not all, you can also get a $10 gift card with
TimeShift and a $39 wireless Xbox 360 controller too. Oh, and we didn't know this ever existed, but you can
Cars,
Open Season and
Fuzion Frenzy 2 all bundled together on one game disc for $29. That's about it for money savings offers this week, but feel free to share what other deals you discovered in the comments below.

Tomorrow night at a handful of Gamestop stores in the US, eager
Call of Duty 4 gamers will get a chance to preview and play the game. Tomorrow's
Call of Duty 4 First to Play event will be held at 9:00PM at Gamestop stores in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, DC, Atlanta and Minneapolis and promises hands on play of
CoD4 weeks before its November release. And be sure you're 17 years old too, because the game is rated M, so the Gamestop identification police will be patrolling the streets. Have fun at the events and be sure to make the jump for more information.

Joystiq recently got to lay their hands on the
Call of Duty 4 single player campaign, one of the less explored aspects of the game. Many players have had a chance to give multiplayer a try thanks to the multiplayer beta that ended last month. Overall, the largest impression gathered about the game is that it is not necessarily realistic, but hovers more closely to straight up action. Joystiq comments on its grand sense of scale and fast paced combat. A plodding, strategic affair it isn't, apparently. Still, regardless of the action focus, the game seems to present a solid single player campaign that FPS fans should be excited to play. Head over to Joystiq for full impressions.

We know
Halo 3 has commanded your attention since its release on Tuesday and we don't blame you, but if you're looking to switch things up this weekend then maybe the
Call of Duty 4 beta will fit the bill, because the level cap has been increased. This morning the
CoD 4 level cap has been increased from a max of 16 to 25 allowing beta participants to unlock new perks and some new weapons along the way. But if your goal is to experience everything rank 25 has to offer then you better drop
Halo 3 and get playing the beta, because the
CoD 4 fun ends this Sunday at midnight. Have fun fanboys, this is where you make the decision to stay a Spartan or become a modern day soldier.

Just a quick reminder folks, Joystiq is still giving away
Call of Duty 4 multiplayer beta invites every other day (in conjunction with GameDaily, who is giving them away every
other other day). If you haven't made into the beta yet, you'd better hurry, as it's only open until the end of the month. And, with a new level cap that lets players unlock even more goodies, the beta is better than ever. Hell, you just might enjoy it more than waiting in line for
Halo 3. If you'd like your shot at the beta, head over to the Joystiq giveaway post and enter.
What are you waiting for? Go!

Hey fellow
Call of Duty 4 beta players, it's time to get excited once again, because the beta is getting one final level cap increase before it ends.
Infinity Ward's own Fourzerotwo confirmed on his blog that on September 28th the
CoD 4 beta level cap will increase from 16 to a rank of 25 allowing players to earn some new weapons (G3, M60E4 and Dragunov) and some new perks (Claymore X2, Slight of Hand and Martyrdom) along the way. But everything isn't peaches and cream come September 28th, because Fourzerotwo also confirmed our
suspicion and announced that the
CoD 4 beta will end on September 30th. This of course means you'll have only a few days to experience ranks 17 through 25, which will also require you to put down
Halo 3. And we're thinking putting down
Halo 3 will be a difficult task on its own, but you're a brave soldier and we trust that you'll make the right decision when the time comes.

Just a quick reminder folks. Joystiq has ten more
Call of Duty 4 multiplayer beta invites to give out today. Joystiq and GameDaily will be alternating the giveaway every day, so check GameDaily tomorrow for another shot if you don't win today. So, if you haven't made it into the beta yet (and you really should try, because, as I've just discovered, it's a total blast), head over to the official Joystiq giveaway post for your chance at modern warfare glory.

Infinity Ward employee fourzerotwo and the only guy who updates us on the latest
Call of Duty 4 happenings, posted a little update about the
CoD 4 beta and cleared the air about rumors of the game officially going gold.
First thing is first, fourzerotwo confirmed that he has been playing a nearly final build of
CoD 4 online, but the game is not 100% done yet or ready to be shipped. So, per the definition of gold status, we have no gold announcement just yet. Knowing that factoid he also wanted to reiterate the fact that those who are playing the beta are still helping the Infinity Ward development team, because they are still getting useful information daily. True, the
CoD 4 retail version is pretty much finalized, but the information they gain from the online beta is and will be used to create patches, tweak gametypes and update their internal network. And here this past week we were thinking we were just playing for fun. Sheesh, it's good to find out that we were actually working while playing the beta and so now we think it's time to head back to work ...

Update: Oops. It seems we misread Joystiq's post. Turns out they're giving away 10 beta invites
every day. So that's pretty good, huh?]
If you haven't made it into the
Call of Duty 4 multiplayer beta yet, today is your lucky day. Actually, the next several days are also your lucky day, because Joystiq and GameDaily are giving out 10 beta invites
a day. Joystiq and GameDaily will be alternating their giveaways everyday (beginning with Joystiq today, GameDaily tomorrow, Joystiq the next day, etc.) until they have no more
Call of Duty love to give. Entering is so easy a caveman could do it, so head on over to the official Joystiq giveaway post for your shot at multiplayer glory (at least until
September 30th).

In a
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare pre-order ad posted online over at Gamestop, it details the game's beta experience and states that the beta will end on September 30th at 11:59PM. And after running the digits through our official X3F calculator, that gives everyone exactly two more weeks of
CoD 4 beta excitement, so be sure to play until your heart is content before the 30th rolls around. But then again, there is a
certain game that releases on the 25th which may take up all of our online multiplayer time, so you may want to count the 25th as the unofficial end of the beta. No matter, viva la
CoD 4 beta!

Yesterday, Activision announced that
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be available this November in a limited collector's edition on the Xbox 360 and PC. The limited edition will consist of a hardcover art book as well as a bonus DVD that includes making-of materials, level walk-throughs, and a documentary on the British S.A.S. All totaled, the bonus DVD features over four hours of video content. Not too shabby. But we sadly noticed that the 360 limited edition lacks the digital version of the Brady Games strategy guide that the PC version includes. We aren't sure why Activision didn't put the strategy guide in the 360 version, but something tells us we'll be seeing it pop up on the XBLM ... for Microsoft points. But if that doesn't bother you and you feel that an art book slash bonus DVD are worth the extra cash, go ahead and get your
CoD 4 pre-order on for $10 more than the standard edition.

If you still aren't in the
Call of Duty 4 beta and want to then we must ask why? It's not like you didn't have a chance a week ago when they let everyone who signed up in on the fun, you silly bum! But enough finger waiving and preaching, because you still have a chance to get in with the help of Gamespot. All this week Gamespot will be giving away
CoD 4 beta tokens to registered members of their site. The tokens will be given away on a first come first serve basis (boy, that sounds familiar) with today's tokens being available at 12:00 noon eastern, so we doubt they have any left for today. Sorry about that. But tomorrow is another day and another chance for
CoD 4 beta tokens. Don't be lazy, get over there and claim your token!

Earlier yesterday we
mentioned that some users got into the
Call of Duty 4 beta via a Gamertag recovery exploit and that those who did it were getting banned from Xbox Live for 24 hours. But, we guess that's not exactly the case. Major Nelson talked with the Xbox Live banhammer folks and confirmed with them that they are
NOT banning tens of thousands of Gamertags specifically related to the beta exploit, but could and presumably are banning those who violate the Xbox Live terms of service agreement. See, according to Major this exploit technically violates said TOS agreement, so the banhammer team could ban your account if they are in the banning mood. Confused a little? Don't worry, we are too.
Breaking everything down we get that they are not banning 20,000+ Gamertags who did the
CoD 4 beta exploit, but will ban those who they feel broke the TOS, which could be anyone who participated in the beta exploit. Ahh heck, stay safe in your Xbox Live adventures and learn from this little fiasco that those who don't play fair will have their conscience eat away at their soul forever ... or something like that.
