Infinity Ward's own Fourzerotwo confirmed on his blog that on September 28th the CoD 4 beta level cap will increase from 16 to a rank of 25 allowing players to earn some new weapons (G3, M60E4 and Dragunov) and some new perks (Claymore X2, Slight of Hand and Martyrdom) along the way. But everything isn't peaches and cream come September 28th, because Fourzerotwo also confirmed our suspicion and announced that the CoD 4 beta will end on September 30th. This of course means you'll have only a few days to experience ranks 17 through 25, which will also require you to put down Halo 3. And we're thinking putting down Halo 3 will be a difficult task on its own, but you're a brave soldier and we trust that you'll make the right decision when the time comes.

There are people that have already gotten sick of it... I can barely play it anymore... I don't think I've touched that game since the last cap raise... and I'm almost positive I won't play it again. Def not after halo 3 comes out haha.

This wasn't a smart move at all on their part. Echoing what everyone else said... Halo 3 comes out the 25th, and no one is gonna put that down to experience levels 17-25.
Why the hell would you not increase the cap today??? So poeple can play over the weekend, experience the levels to their full potential, and enjoy the beta in one last hurrah before Halo 3... it makes absolutely no sense.
Give us 2 days to play 17-25? AND after halo 3 releases? not smart IW. I love the beta with all my heart, but comon...throw us a freakin bone here.

As much as I love the COD 4 beta, the three maps are kind of getting stale-- I would be playing it more, but I'm participating in a Halo 3 tournament the night of the release(the winner gets a free copy) and I keep getting controls confused and try to use iron sights, etc when I am practicing with Halo 2...

They're doing this to test their product's impact and see how many people are still playing the CoD4 beta after the release of Microsoft and Bungie's behemoth IP upon the masses. In my opinion, this move is more for their own research than for our enjoyment. All the same, I'll still play it to try out some of the new weapons. Halo 3 will still be there when I'm done. :-)
