It's not the similar animations that gripe me -- what pisses me off is that they refuse to allow the player to strafe. I mean, seriously, how realistic is it that our character controls like a car, only capable of motion that is in some way forward or backward, but not side-to-side? If a zombie's rushing at me with a chainsaw, it makes more sense to sidestep than to slowly turn to the side and then begin running. Honestly, it's ridiculous. It's a control issue that was passable for the Gamecube's lack of a second true analog stick, but with the 360 and PS3 controllers, they have no excuse to NOT include such a basic motion.
I mean, imagine if Gears of War or COD4 controlled the same way. Would it be enjoyable? No. So why are we letting Capcom off the hook for this?

When they decide to give it a proper control scheme, I'll look into it.

i read on kotaku that the RE5 director liked Gears of War (so did the rest of his staff) and was considering making similar control options for RE5.

I don't understand what the big deal is. How many games were made with the old archaic fixed camera method with little to no innovation. They recycled that game style so many times, how can you possibly be shocked that RE5 is just like RE4 was.
I'm excited for it, RE4 was a blast.

you pussies in the gaming press need to grow a pair. Seriously the hype this RE4.1 is getting is unreasonable.
You all are hyping what your words reveal to be nothing more than an expansion pack.
I am not saying it doesn't have it's place on current gen consoles with current gen visuals, but if the game is version 4.1 then just say so and stop the hype.

I agree with Bravelionheart. They really need to give you the ability to strafe. C'mon, he is supposed to be this badass former SWAT style cop, you think they cant move and shoot? If Gears or CoD or any other game controlled like this, it would get ripped apart by reviewers and gamers alike. Why should this get a pass?

Resident Evil 5 is taking something that works and applying a new coat of paint to it for the current generation of consoles. I see no problem with it.
