Project Sylpheed demo warps onto Live

"Okay, outer space shooting games for the Xbox 360, raise your hand. What ... no one? Not one outer space shooting game? Wait, you there, in the back, what's your name? Project Slip ... sliph ... Sylpheed? What does that even mean?"

Yes, the space shooter is somewhat underrepresented on the Xbox 360 (along with platformers and RPGs). Thankfully, Microsoft has decided to rectify that situation by bringing the Game Arts developed title, Project Sylpheed to American shores (published by Square Enix in Japan). As such, Microsoft has deemed it worthy to release a demo on Xbox Live Marketplace. We don't know much about the game, other than the fact that it does indeed involve shooting things in space. The demo clocks in at just over 600MB and is available now. Has anyone managed to take it for a spin yet?

It looks like an original Xbox title.

I'll download the demo but I'm not expecting anything special. The 360 does need more space shooters though, I'd love to play another Star Wars Rogue Squadron game at some point...

The Xbox 360 is currently the KING of next-gen RPG games. There is no doubt about that. Xbox 360 has FAR more RPG games than any other next-gen system.

My friends and I recently bought Shadowrun for Xbox 360, and it is one of the best RPG games we've ever played!

And the situation for Xbox 360 RPG games is going get even better over the next month, because there are a couple of great games on the way:

Overlord is an AWESOME game being released for both PC and Xbox 360.

Two Worlds is another GREAT game being released for both PC and Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 currently has the highest rated version of Oblivion. The Xbox 360 version includes all of those extra expansions, including the newest one called Shivering Isles, that is almost a brand-new game because it adds over 30 hours of gameplay.

Xbox 360 also has the best version of the Action-RPG Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Only the Xbox 360 version lets lets you download the eight new characters, such as The Incredible Hulk, Magneto, Sabretooth, Dr. Doom, Night Crawler, and others.

Enchanted Arms isn't exactly the best RPG in the world, but if you like traditional RPG games, then it can be bought for the Xbox 360 for lower than $29 now, sometimes for $19.

Phantasy Star Universe is another really good traditional RPG on the Xbox 360. I have always loved the Phantasy Star games, and I think the single-player offline part of Phantasy Star Universe cool all by itself, even without the online play.

Final Fantasy IX on the Xbox 360 is a good game if you are into massive multiplayer online games like that.

Blue Dragon is a game for the Xbox 360 that will be released later this year, and we know from all of the great ratings in Japan that Blue Dragon is a GREAT game!

We also know that Lost Odyssey is also going to be released worldwide by the end of 2007. Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are both developed by the creator of the first seven Final Fantasy games, and those were by far the best ones! Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are RPG games people all over the world are looking forward to!

Fable 2 is a game that is in development for Xbox 360, and it looks absolutely incredible!

Dungeon Hero was just announced for both Xbox 360 and PC. That game looks like it will be a really good one.

The game that won Best RPG at the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo is exclusively for the Xbox 360, and it is called Mass Effect!

Mass Effect looks absolutely AMAZING! Mass Effect will be released in just a few months for Xbox 360, and it has graphics that are incredible along with traditional gameplay has new elements added to it that are revolutionary!

Mass Effect and Halo 3 are the games I'm looking forward to more than any other this year.

It's kind of his only example that isn't a normal RPG. I'm not sure what that has to do with those post though lol.

Had you stopped at 1 or 2 then maybe it would have just been sarcastic.

Instead it was SPAM from a Microsoft Shill.

While it isn't up to me, I'm guessing you are due for a big thump from the Banstick.

What kind of asshat are you? This is a fansite for a Microsoft game console.
Hello....? McFly?
I'm pretty sure you can be excited about upcoming games on the 360 w/o being considered a shill for Microsoft.
Go back to bed and try again and when you get up be thankful they don't use the banstick on asshats.

Asshating aside. I liked the art direction of this Demo, feels very Phantasy Star Online'ish, but unfortunately the gameplay just felt so awkward and in the fire fight it was 'too many colours' chaos. It's not until you play a game like this that you realise how right Rogue Squadron got the space fighter gameplay.

It's sad that Microsoft has to pay people to blog up enthusiasm. But with someone like Steve Ballmer at the wheel who just keeps coming and coming and coming and coming and coming. I'm not really surprised. Damn MS.

Wow. Brian and Brandon. That was pointless. This is simply the mirror image of the Sony shill, and it's no less of an excercise in futility coming from the 360 fanboys. Posting a list of how many games are coming only tells me how much p***s envy you have for the other system. Yep. Looking pretty insecure guys.

Insecure? Heh, about PS3? Hardly are U joking man? This game here may be ass but its still prob. better than anything that pile of garbage has to offer including the pathetic multiplayer only Warhawk. It's only a matter of time until Sony backs out of the ps3 I give it another 1 and a half of poor sales and low intrest before it cost 50 bucks.

Shadowrun is more of an Action-RPG sort of game, but it still comes from an RPG source.

All of the other RPG games I list in the #5 position really are games that are very cool.

I mean the list of upcoming Xbox 360 games is absolutely amazing how great it is for RPG games:

* Mass Effect - RPG game of the show at 2006 E3
* Overlord
* Two Worlds
* Blue Dragon
* Fable 2
* Lost Odyssey

Those are all awesome games that will be out this year! Overlord and Two Worlds will be very soon! You can play the demos of some of them now, and others, like Blue Dragon, are available in places like Japan already.

Like I said, my friends and I were be Shadowrun fans, and we think of the Xbox 360/PC version of Shadowrun as an Adventure-RPG sort of game.

Look at the way Capcom lists Marvel Ultimate Alliance as an Action-RPG. I think that is a correct type of analysis. And the Xbox 360 version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance really is a LOT better than the Playstation 3 version, because only the Xbox 360 version lets you be those extra EIGHT characters like The Incredible Hulk, Sabretooth, Nightcrawler, and Magneto!

Phantasy Star Universe on Xbox 360 really is a great game both offline and online, in my opinion. The offline part of Phantasy Star Universe is quite cool, and I really love the Phantasy Star RPG series.

Final Fantasy IX on the Xbox 360 is a fine game if you like Massively Multiplayer Online games. If you like that kind of RPG, then it's a fine game.

And if you like Enchanted Arms, then that one is another one that is on Xbox 360 right now. Like I said before, it's not the best RPG ever made, but it only costs $29 now for the Xbox 360, and it's often on sale for $19 for the Xbox 360.

Another game I forgot to mention that's on the way for Xbox 360 is Eternal Sonata, from Namco. That one looks like a really fun game if you are into that style of animation in an RPG.

No doubt about it, the Xbox 360 is currently the king of RPG games and RPG variant style games. And when you look at the release dates of upcoming games, it's going to stay that way for a long time to come.

Whatever. I guess you are entitled to your opinion and all but I can't see how you can read #5 and not think it comes across a bit too forced, and more than a bit too enthusiastic. (Lets not even get into the fact that I actually *AGREE* with his post and I'm looking forward to the games he listed).

If I'm an asshat in your eyes, so be it. If I'm an asshat in X360Fanboy's yes, then they *should* ban me. Not that it will matter much, as I've posted probably 5 times total.

As for the Brian poster, if I'm wrong and he's not a M$ shill, then I sincerely apologize and stand corrected. Either way though, to *me* his post sounded like marketing spam thrown in a blog and I shared my opinion (much like you shared yours about me being an "ass hat"). Hopefully at some level you can appreciate my opinion even if you disagree as I appreciate yours about me being an asshat even though I disagree.

Free speech FTW.
