F.E.A.R. the PS3 vs 360 comparison
Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 graphics comparisons aren't anything new, but when a multiplatform game releases we figure we'll just keep dishing out the video goods. Showcased above is a graphical brawl between the 360 and PS3 versions of F.E.A.R. and even though the small embedded video isn't the perfect graphical representation, we have a difficult time telling the difference. Even after downloading the HD comparison video it's still hard to tell which version is graphically superior. Maybe it was just a good porting job from the PC version to both consoles, who knows, but to us they look the same. We'll leave it in your hands fellow fanboys, watch the video and start a mini fanboy war or just dismiss this comparison and call it a draw.

can't see the difference, except one hurts the wallet and the other doesn't.

It's obvious that the only reason the ps3 version isn't vastly superior is because it's a port and they aren't able to unlock all that hidden potential... that or the next-next gen PS3 isn't so next-next gen after all....

Potential hidden deeply within the 4th dimension. Is it just me or do the Ps3 textures look soft?

The 360 half looks better to me. I equate it to an LCD monitor. Where the more pure the black levels are, the more the colors pop out. The PS3 version looks a little washed out. Where the "black" looks like 75% gray in Photoshop.

Both halfs look good, but i think the ps3 one looks really washed out, but that seems to be a comman problem with all ps3 games in these comparisons, where's all that True-HD goodness?

The noticeable difference is the PS3 version is brighter, but F.E.A.R. is meant to be dark.

It seems the PS3 version has the AA turned up a bit more than the 360 version.. and it's a bit brighter (not an issue really, i'm sure you can adjust that on the 360 version).. The thing is though the PS3s smoother looking but the frame rate seems to be lower than the 360's again probably because of the AA.. I would rather have the smoother frame rate than the smoother outlines that AA brings.. On a console at least. But overall they look on par with each other, which doesn't speak so well for the PS3, you would think a "far superior" system would run the game significantly better.

looked almost exactly the same to me except for the ps3 one was brighter and the 360 one was darker.
No real difference. But is that reason why I shouldn't buy a ps3?

No difference to me. It's just brighter and the frame rate seems to suffer on some occasions. The textures, models, lightning et all looks exactly the same.
Booya to PS3.

the 360 version is slightly better with the graphics. for all the people bitching that the ps3 just came out STOP!! the ps3 is a year newer than the 360 and should be able to blow away xbox with graphics with their 1st gen games. Does no one remember how superior first gen games were on the original xbox compared to current ps2 games?? the games are on 360, the graphics are on 360 and live is on 360? however, the ps3 has does a bigger price and a crappy motion controler no one uses.

To me the PS3 shows detail better in distance whereas the 360 wins up close. Maybe I'm just strange?

Yeah, there was a frame rate issue on the PS3 scene where the camera pans past the soldiers. Other than that they look almost identical. If the excuse is that this is a port then PS3 owners should prepare themselves for a lot of ports because if only exclusives are going to show the power of the PS3 there will be lots of disappointment as game after game becomes non-exclusive. I look at it this way. The PS3 ($599) costs 100% more than the XBox360 ($299) and it sure as hell isn't given out 100% better games. Maybe people like to throw cash in the trash.

They look pretty much the same except for the obvious ps3 wash out and framerate stuff still It is kinda pathetic its taking them this long to even get ports to look the same but we always have ps3 fanboys to tell us cell potential and lazy programers =).

is it just me or is there more detail in the guys jacket on the 360 version right before they go to gameplay footage at around 1:32. The textures on the jacket look better to me.

i think we're all obtuse to a certain degree. a lot of games that come out cross-platformed are darker, and because we're all ::wiggles fingers:: "xbox360 fanboys," we're all partial to our playtoys. f.e.a.r. on the ps3 does look more like the pc version, i think.

Sounds like Tyler needs to make some adjustments to brightness/contrast/gamma on his PC.
