It's official: Small Arms this Wednesday!

Microsoft has officially confirmed what we had all hoped, Gastronaut Studios' Small Arms is finally hitting Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday for 800 points. Small Arms, for those of you who have somehow missed our near continuous coverage, is a 4 player fighting game featuring crazy characters that use any means necessary -- from molotov cocktails to sniper rifles -- to blast each other to smithereens. Described by many as Metal Slug meets Smash Bros, people (especially us) have been salivating for its release. The wait is almost over, folks. This Thursday, eat some turkey and look for some 4 player action on Live. That's what we'll be doing. Full press release after the break.

Small Arms Embraces Social Gaming on Xbox Live Arcade

Networking with friends reaps new rewards with this highly anticipated Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday release. The frantic multiplayer brawling game "Small Arms" will be available for download on Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360 beginning Wednesday, November 22, after 0800 GMT (1:00 a.m. PST).

Social gaming innovation in "Small Arms," which begins with the four developers at Gastronaut Studios, will pass to Xbox Live Arcade gamers from around the world. "Small Arms" includes a unique social networking Achievement called "Six Degrees of Small Arms" that can only be earned by playing with someone who already has it – and which only the game's creators will possess at launch!

In "Small Arms," up to four players can join in the battles across many dynamic and richly detailed levels. Gamers can choose from a cast of outrageous fighters like the cyborg tabby cat, assassin truffle pig and mutant chimney sweep. While jumping from platform to platform shooting with 360° aim, gamers of all skill levels will be able to pick up and play this innovative side-scrolling action title.

"Small Arms" is available worldwide for 800 Microsoft Points.

GAME FEATURES:

* 12 characters, each with their own weapon
* 8 unique levels
* 12 Achievements, including the innovative "Six Degrees of Small Arms" viral achievement
* Up to 4-player multiplayer offline and on Xbox Live
* Local Multiplayer / Xbox Live Swap – allows players to swap out a local friend with a friend over Live without leaving the game!
* Three single player game modes (Story, Challenge, and Shooting Range)
* Colorful 3D graphics with classic side-scrolling run and gun action
* Expect premium downloadable content for this title in the future – providing new game play elements and unique challenges for Small Arms fans

WHERE CAN I GET IT: Download "Small Arms" beginning on Wednesday, November 22, at 1 a.m. PST on Xbox Live Arcade.

"Small Arms": 800 Microsoft Points, Rated E10+, Comic Mischief, Fantasy Violence

1. Are you sure its not a new uno theme deck?

2. Man, cannot wait. I've been hyping this up to my friends. I thought it might turn out to be 1200 points, so this is a nice surprise.

I'm sure some people will bitch about the allusion to "premium content", but with 8 areas and 12 characters I don't think there's much room for complaint.

Awesome.

3. I want this game sooooo bad, too bad I don't have Xbox Live though :'(. This game though is one of the main reasons as to why I am getting Xbox Live for Christmas with the MS Wireless Adapter(the only reason that I DO have to wait). This game looks amazing and will be the first thing I buy off XBLM this Christmas!

6. Combined with the new Lost PLanet Multiplayer demo, this'll beat out the year Halo 2 took over my Thanksgiving, its first year of release.

Here's looking towards turkey!

7. Finally, the fifth game I'll have bought for my Xbox 360 :)

1. Perfect Dark Zero
2. Burnout Revenge
3. Marble Blast Ultra
4. Gears of War
5. Small Arms

That being said... there are some titles in 2007 that I've been looking forward to for a very long time... I hope they meet the hype.

8. If 800 pts is $10, that is pretty sweet. Have they ever released figures on the sales of these XBLA games? I'd be real currious how some of the lower cost titles are selling.

9. Wow I can't wait for this game. I really hope it doesn't disappoint. I've been waiting for a SSB clone on Xbox Live for a long time.

@7 - WHAT?!?! You haven't bought Geometry Wars yet? What are you waiting for?!?

10. @Zuka

Not only do you not have to buy the MS wireless adapter, you could buy a wireless ethernet bridge from the local Best Buy/ computer store for $40. Or you could buy a used one.. that's just a suggestion if you'd rather have a game AND connect wirelessly instead of just an adapter.
