THQ hooks up 90 servers for Frontlines' launch
Shipping this week: attack of the colons edition
This week's Xbox 360 releases aren't plentiful or overly stellar, but they do have one grammatical thing in common. A colon. Yes sir, a colon brings all three of this week's releases together under one unified umbrella of release week unification ... of sorts. It's the punctuation binder that is what eggs are to meatloaf. Without it, this week would be a chaotic mess of randomness. So, be thankful for the colon and be thankful for this week's new Xbox 360 releases. Game on.

Frontlines: FoW now featuring 50 person multiplayer
After releasing not one, but two separate game demos to the XBLM, Frontlines: Fuel of War hasn't really garnered a major following or any sort of hype. But the dev team at Kaos Studios have been keeping their multiplayer cards held close and with their latest feature reveal, hope to get some attention.Confirmed via Kaos Studios' official forums, Frontlines developer deslief made it known that the game will in fact feature 50 player online multiplayer over Xbox Live. 50 players! Kaos says that they initially planned for a 32 player versus and even got up to as many as 73 players, but are settling a rather comfortable 50. Maybe that'll be the bullet point to make some pickup Frontlines, maybe not. Let's just hope multiplayer doesn't end up being a ride through lag-city.

Frontlines: Fuel of War Achievements
We saw the ones for Army of Two earlier in the week, and those seemed rather creative considering the genre and publisher. While that game has been criticized harshly in the games press and populace, Frontlines has been given just a bit more faith in the hope that it might do things a bit differently. Well, those supposed differences do not shine through at all in the Achievements. To the game's credit it does have two secret Achievements (one worth 0 points, to boot) but actual goals are rather linear (beat level one, beat level two, etc). Though they do attempt to bring in a bit of creativity by doing a set similar to the Halo 3 meta-game Achievements, in which the goal is to beat certain levels in certain time limits. There's also a set that involves beating the levels without dying. So, if you were incredibly uber you could conceivably beat the game in one sitting and receive 21 Achievements over the course of the session just from the ones associated with the levels. Trying to create artificial replay value are they? Well, the reactions to the demos have been mixed so we'll have to see if the final gameplay can hold up to their plans for player engrossment.

Frontlines: Fuel of War pushed to 2008

THQ has announced that Frontlines: Fuel of War has been delayed. For the uninitiated, Fuel of War is a team-based combat game on a grand scale, filled with multiple classes, vehicles, and weapons (you may want to check out Joystiq's hands-on impressions of the game from earlier this year). Sound like fun? Too bad, because Fuel of War won't be coming out until 2008. The reason? THQ didn't want to be part of the already full Holiday 2007 lineup. In other words, going up against monsters like GTAIV and Halo 3 didn't sound like a good business decision. Probably a good call, really.
Was anyone out there looking forward to Frontlines: Fuel of War?
Get down! New Frontlines: Fuel of War screens

We hope you aren't getting sick of WWII or army shooters just because there is a new one announced each and every day. And today's new screenshots come from one of those war games. Make the jump and check out the five new screenshots for upcoming Xbox 360 game Frontlines: Fuel of War. Yup, they sure are pretty, but are they pretty enough to grab your attention? With games like CoD 3 and upcoming game GRAW 2, we question whether Frontlines can compete in the war genre.

Frontlines brings 64 person multiplayer [update 1]

Update: An inside source reports to us that the information in Game Informer is a misprint. Matches over Xbox Live will be limited to 32 players. The PC version, however, should support 64 players online. Too bad, though 32 is nothing to sneeze at.
The latest issue of Game Informer has a spread on Frontlines: Fuel of War, developed by Kaos Studios. Announced last April, Frontlines: Fuel of War is a military FPS featuring vehicular combat and advanced weaponry. The biggest tidbit of information, however, is revealed in the game's description. Should you walk by a copy of Game Informer in your local grocery store, flip to page 72 and focus your eyes directly under the title: "Up to 64-player via Xbox Live." You may be compelled to rub your eyes and unleash a hearty "whaa?" It's understandable. So there you go, from some of the same people that brought you Battlefield 2 comes 64 player madness.
Anyone looking forward to this now?
