Mmm.. at 700mb this would have been a no brainer, but 1.7gb would take all day over Xbox Live. My power keeps going out because of the ice, so leaving my beloved 360 on for that long wouldn't be prudent. Anyone that has downloaded this thing, care to give a review?

Got it from Xbox.com. Sorry it's called background downloads, but there is another Auto download feature for arcade games only, which will download new arcade games.
*Shutdown*
Enable Auto-Off to automatically turn your console off after six hours of inactivity. The default setting is Auto-Off Disabled. Enable background downloads to let your console finish your active downloads after you've turned your console off. The default setting is Disable.

Why don't you have Auto Downloading Feature On, So it downloads while the 360 is off?

so when you turn that on will it just download anything new? How does that work?

No, you start the download and turn your 360 off but the download keeps going. Saves electricity because the 360 shutsdown noessential hardware and processes. Probably a little safer to download like that in bad weather.

@1. You can also get the demo in the latest OXM disk, the one with RB6 Vegas 2 on the cover. The demo is worth a go it's fun.

The 360 wouldn't be "Off" it would just be in somewhat of a standby mode. The point being that there would be data writing to the harddrive, and a power outage in the middle of a download could royally screw the pooch. So? Anyone? Demo any good?

I just downloaded the demo and all I have to say is this. WTF? I thought I sold my PS2 on ebay like 4 years ago. I'm going back to COD4

Great setting (intro anyway), but action just doesn't grab you. Areas feel clumsy, and the shooting/controls feel worse.

I think its pretty decent. There are a nice selection of combat options (rooftop sniper rifles, rocket launchers, various controllable drones) which will have me replaying the demo. The graphics are a little glitchy, but they look pretty good (not spectacular, but good). The controls are pretty customizable, but there are a great deal of controls to deal with so you'll find yourself inadvertently dropping grenades or loading maps or unable to switch weapons, etc. The enemy AI is pretty dumb, I had guys run away from me as I was standing in the open reloading.
Overall, as a demo alone, I'd give is 3+/5.

If it's got PS2 graphics and dumb AI, I guess I won't be needing to download it. Thanks

I think that post makes some good points. I think the game has a lot of potential though. I hope they keep tweaking. I'm definitely going to give the game a rent.

Yeah, that review is pretty good. I would add about the graphics that they are just rough. They clearly have a good lighting and particle system, and in HD the textures seem good, maybe a little bland. Its just not optimized yet: you can see detail textures rendering as you move towards them, detailed shadows pop in and out, there are some jaggies on straight edges etc.
I would also agree with the sluggish controls, the character moves pretty slow.
Never the less, I will be loading it up again to give it another play through. Its got a decent concept if they can tighten up the execution.

No, I didn't believe the PS2 graphics comment (The thing is on Unreal III right?) but so far I've heard nothing but "Meh, it's got potential but...meh". Might put it on my gamefly queue whenever it's out, since it really is one of those games that you'd rent but never, ever buy.

Honestly, OXM seems to be the way to go to get these "exclusive" demos, i had both this one and the GHIII demo weeks before it was released on live.
Anywho, the demo has a nice intro, but the graphics need serious refinement if these guys want my dollars. I destroyed a tank, and the effect was less than good. anybody remember those early 3d games where you'd blow something up, and you'd see like 5 stages of destruction?(like a slideshow)
