Frontlines brings 64 person multiplayer [update 1]

Update: An inside source reports to us that the information in Game Informer is a misprint. Matches over Xbox Live will be limited to 32 players. The PC version, however, should support 64 players online. Too bad, though 32 is nothing to sneeze at.

The latest issue of Game Informer has a spread on Frontlines: Fuel of War, developed by Kaos Studios. Announced last April, Frontlines: Fuel of War is a military FPS featuring vehicular combat and advanced weaponry. The biggest tidbit of information, however, is revealed in the game's description. Should you walk by a copy of Game Informer in your local grocery store, flip to page 72 and focus your eyes directly under the title: "Up to 64-player via Xbox Live." You may be compelled to rub your eyes and unleash a hearty "whaa?" It's understandable. So there you go, from some of the same people that brought you Battlefield 2 comes 64 player madness.

Anyone looking forward to this now?

1. Thats unbelievable, i liked the update about the call of duty 4 being like 54 or something like that but 64 is even better, and the game looks unbelievable. Lets hope this game studio has tons of goood servers to keep are games going strong the whole time.
NO LAG!!!

2. It'll be interesting. Got to see what the latency will be for a full 64 man war, tho.

5. Yes. But.. what about the servers? Will it be run by EA.. I hope not. Those are always wrought with problems.

6. That is so awesome.. I can't wait to hear more about this game.. Its one of the most anticipated for me.... I hope more developers do this as well... I love games like this and BF:MC and hopefully will see more.. The game I want to see though is one that actually means something. Basically Chromehounds meets Battlefield, where every battle means something towards winning the overall war... Now that would kick ass.

7. perfect dark was 32 players and had you hosting your own games. I could host a 32 player match with my 800mbit up connection just fine. I still fine with no lag. Its the game with the best net code to date. Lets hope they can make a 64 man lag free experiance.

8. The maps need to be rather huge. 16 person matches in Lost Planet often results in instant spawn kills because there's so many people confined to one area. 64 people on maps the size of Lost Planet would be unplayable. They'd have to have maps roughly 4x the size if not larger to make it actually fun to play. No sense in spawning and having a team of 8 people pouding your ass into the dirt constantly. That's not my idea of fun.

10. I hope the servers are run by EA.. I like the was Battlefield is handled... Sure you might betting booted here or there, but its better than some guy just ending a game.

11. u fire your gun and 5 minutes later you end up face down in the dirt because someone whcked you on the back of the head seconds before your shot.

lag-tacular!

13. Now we don't have to listen to Sony fanboys go on about how the 360 can't do 40 player MP like the PS3.

14. Xbox had 50 player games didn't it? Black hawk down was the game I think...
