[Update: It looks like Scar was banned merely for having the epsilon. Apparently the epsilon was leaked to many more people than intended, resulting in many bannings, including Scar. You can read what is allegedly Scar's response on Xboxic here.]Remember all the lovely Halo 3 epsilon leakage that began a few weeks ago? Many people were quick to point out that the epsilon players leaking the footage would soon find themselves banned from Xbox Live. It looks like that was definitely the case, as a person with the gamertag "Scar" can definitely attest. As you can see in the image at right, Scar has been banned for a considerable amount of time, until December 31st, 9999 to be specific. We hate to seem redundant, but that is one hell of a ban. This guy won't be playing Xbox Live until the year 10,000. Honestly, if the Xbox 360 is still around by then, we will be mightily impressed (and also probably dead).
Our condolences Scar. Hopefully you'll feel better when Halo 3 comes out and you can play some 4-player co-op on Xbox Li... ooh, sorry.

To be clear, Scar is not a Microsoft Employee who leaked Halo Epsilon footage. He may not have leaked any footage at all, but he did have access to Epsilon. The son of a Microsoft Employee with access to Epsilon had his Live account information stolen. The thieves then used the download history hack (the same one used to steal COD4 betas) to download Epsilon to their own accounts. Scar is one of the people who used the stolen account information to download Epsilon, or gave his account information to someone to be recovered by someone who did. It took about a day for Microsoft to ban his account and xbox from the time he played Epsilon while connected to Live. From Scar himself:
"im sure you read the story where a woman that works at MS got he son the epsilon then a couple guys stole his account and did the second profile glitch to get the beta off him, well they let some people do it then it blossomed into a good 100 people glitching into it, and i was one of them"
"i got this from a friend that got it from another friend and so on... finally leading back to the kid which i didnt find out about until after i got it downloaded"
The worst part is that Scar is "17 and my job is fixing 360s". Given his behavior, I've no doubt he'll resell his banned console to some poor soul who will not be allowed to connect to live.

Scar does *not* have my condolences, I'm very happy Microsoft is drawing a firm line. Whether or not he was involved with the original account theft, he obviously acquired Epsilon without permission. I sincerely hope all modders and cheaters suffer the same fate once Halo 3 is released. Now I'm not saying Scar is a modder or a cheater, but he's displayed a similar mindset (i.e. the ability to take an action justifies that action regardless of the consequences).

He is already playing on live again though. = /
He posted in another forum he has 2 360's and his job is actually fixing 360's. So the Console and gamertag is banned but he has made a new one and is using his other console.

No when you are banned on the 360, they ban your MAC ID address, that means your console will never feel the warmth of online again. He'll need to buy a new console and make a new account.

The really bad thing is, the 360 has the Y10k bug, so when the date rolls over to 1/1/10000, his console will think it's 1/1/0000, and he'll still be banned.
Bummer.
