Yes. I guess I'll finally be buying that HD-DVD player now. The format war is as good as over.

5. @Dave
I got mine this past weekend, 360 version, and it is pretty good. I traded four games and came out of pocket $83.

9. Here, read the official press release from Paramount and Dreamworks. Very informative.

I do not think the format war is over, but anyone thinking that Sony had this format war all wrapped up in their little, greedy fingers because of PS3 . . . think again. This war just got long and protracted and my best advice to anyone looking to upgrade to HD, is either buy both formats, or abstain from both formats until the industry gets digital distribution ironed out. Because between HD DVD and blu-ray, their aren't going to be any major victory for either camp.

10. Personally, I see this format war dragging on long enough that dual format players become the standard. When HD DVD only had Universal, I could see it ending, because all it would take is one company to decide to switch and HD DVD had little left to offer. Now that Paramount has become exclusive again this war will be drug out. This will end like DVD +/- R and now like VHS vs Beta.

11. XBOX 360 and HD DVD FTW! POS3 and BLU-RAY FTL!

I don't get why everyone is saying Superbad is so good? To me it was mediocre at best and super stupid. And I saw it about 2 weeks before all of you so don't say I'm not buying into the Hype.

12. So basically, ALL of Viacom just moved to HD DVD. That is absolutely MASSIVE!

13. This is going to be such an interesting war. Don't know what to do myself. The HD DVD at the price now with all those incentives seems like a no brainer especially with Paramount on board now... so confused... :)

14. That means Tranformers is only on HD DVD!!!

Posted at 2:58PM on Aug 20th 2007 by Dadidito

15. Megatron: [surprised] Prime.
Optimus Prime: One shall stand, one shall fall.
Megatron: Why throw away your life so recklessly?
Optimus Prime: That's a question you should ask YOURSELF, Megatron.

Just replace Prime/Megatron with HDDVD/Blu-Ray

16. That's fantastic news for the HD camp.. That HD-DVD add-on for the 360 isn't lookin half bad now..

17. For a hilariously whiny read, go over to thedigitalbits.com and watch Bill Hunt scream like an infant over Microsoft's "dirty money" (as opposed to Sony's clean money) prolonging the format war. He also tries to pass off that just because Spielberg's films aren't guaranteed in this deal, it's worthless.

Yeah, tell that to the shit-ton of people who go out and buy a player just to watch Transformers in HD.

No, the war isn't "over." This sure as hell assures it's going to be going for a while yet. Bring it on, it'll just speed up the progress of dual format players.

18. @DSR7997

I just picked one up at Best Buy! They have a deal this week where they throw in 300. It already comes with King Kong. So, I get 300, King Kong, plus the standard 5 HD-DVD movies deal going on right now. Not bad!
