I purchased the Kubrick Collection on DVD when the thing was a couple of hundered bucks. Unless they had a major overhaul for the HD-DVD I can't imagine buying them again. I still haven't watched Barry Lyndon after owning the set for over 5 years.

2001, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, and The Shining are all great classics - overall a pretty good week, and with that new special going on I'm even more tempted to purchase one... but I won't, I've got too many good games to buy instead.

Why do some people keep thinking all HD DVDs are $30? Very few HD DVDs cost that much. The retail prices for the Kubrick movies are only $19.
You could have bought all of Kubricks HD DVDs for less than $15 each (including shipping) from the WB site during the last 25% off sale.
That's what I did.
Bought all the Harry Potter HD DVDs for $17 each as well, with free shipping.

I was on the team that painstakingly restored these films, and the difference is these have been fully restored, fully color corrected and the sound has been restored. They should be amazing...

I don't understand the need to buy a $30 movie you watch maybe once a year... if that. Hello?! Netflix!!

@12: I love having a movie collection at my fingertips. Friends and family come to visit, there's a wide selection to choose from. Sometimes I like to just look at my collection and pick something to watch without having to plan it through Netflix. Is it cost effective? No, not really (I have nearly 600 movies - mostly DVD, but around 40 or so HD DVD). But I justify it by never going to the movie theater anymore. One of my coworkers went to see a movie this weekend and ended up paying $9/ticket (went at 4:30, apparently that's not early enough for the cheap tickets!) plus money for food. I pay $18 for an HD DVD (cheaper for DVD) and can watch it whenever I want and get better sound/picture than the theater to boot.
That's why it's a no-brainer for me, even though I could save a lot of money with Netflix... I love the convenience and selection.

The Motorhead disc is AMAZING. It has replaced NIN Beside You in Time as the best music HD DVD.
And of course Full Metal Jacket and 2001 are outstanding.
