Eternal Sonata trailer plucks heartstrings

IGN has posted a new trailer of Eternal Sonata in preparation for E3 next month. We've made it no secret that we adore the eccentric premise of the game, and this trailer only serves to cement that belief. For those of you still unfamiliar with it, the game chronicles the final hours of composer Frederic Chopin. The catch, you see, is that Chopin is asleep and the game occurs inside the fever dream world of his final hours. As you might expect, Chopin's dream world has a lot of musical ties. More than that though, the game is simply gorgeous, something like Howl's Moving Castle in video game form. The game is scheduled to hit U.S. shores in September. We can't wait.

1. If you go pickup OXM, you can just play the demo. Much better than a trailer.

2. You can also download the demo on the Japanese Marketplace. :)

3. there are just to many damn good looking games coming out this fall. to damn many! :)

4. This game is a must have. I think this game is proof that Japanese just don't like Xbox. A couple months ago there were continuous debates saying they don't buy the system because it doesn't have games they like. MSFT is no nGage, everyone knows who they are so there is brand awareness. 360 is offering more Japanese targeted games now but still PS3 sells more there. Hmm... I guess this brings conclusion to that debate.

BTW, is Howl's moving Castle done by the same people who did Spirited Away? I recognize that art style from a mile.

5. Howl's Moving Castle is Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli)'s latest picture, yes his previous was Spirited Away from 2001. I recommend seeing all of Studio Ghibli's films, or at least all of Miyazaki's films.

7. "360 is offering more Japanese targeted games now but still PS3 sells more there. Hmm... I guess this brings conclusion to that debate."

Although, admittedly, there have been weeks where the PS3 is only like 2,000 units ahead. Considering it's pedigree there, it is doing rather abysmally.

I think the problem is that stuff like Eternal Sonata is just a drop in the bucket. For every Japanese centric title, there's 12 western made titles that weren't even translated at all. Not to mention their general marketing woes there.

I think it's kind of just one factor amongst many.

8. Damn it, damn it, damn it! I don't want to wait till September. I want this NOW! Whaaaaaa...

9. Looks awesome... but tell me there will be an option for Japanese dubbing? (goes to look for info)

10. Yeah, the demo is a nice little taste of the game, I really like the real-time battle system it has going for it - and whacking radishes with an umbrella. I hope this one lives up to it's demo's potential.
