Original Prince of Persia on XBLA?

These ratings boards just can't keep their mouths shut it seems, as yet another XBLA title has been uncovered. This time it's Prince of Persia Classic. According to the German Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (USK) ratings board, the game was tested yesterday. The original Prince of Persia is a legitimate classic that would jive just fine with Xbox Live Arcade, providing plenty of platforming challenges and decent combat. Of course, if you own Sands of Time then you can already play the original Prince of Persia hidden within the game. Then again, that won't net you any achievements.

At any rate, Prince of Persia is a great game and would be a welcome addition to the Live Arcade library.

1. Another example of why Word's spellcheck does not count as proof-reading. :)

2. I would like to see more recent retro titles than this, Prince of Persia is a classic but not one that held up to well for me. I found it incredibly slow going back to it. I remember being blown away years ago when you would fall into the spike puts, it looked so real to me haha. Its better than New Rally X thats for sure but I really want to see games like Desert Strik/Jungle Strike, Sonic and even better more DC games like Quake 3.

Powerstone 2 with online...I can dream :(

3. That is by far the funniest spelling mistake I've ever made. Gotta remember to check headlines, too.

Fixed.

6. As much as I like retro games, I want to see more original arcade titles. I don't want them putting up old games just because they can.

7. Anyone intimately familiar with this game is probably thinking the same thing as me.

Specifically:

How in the hell am I going to make those four-tile jumps later in the game with the practically-broken 360 d-pad?

p.s. What was the title typo?

8. Oh this might be worth my points. I seem to have fond memories of some rather long sword fights and a rather tight one hour time limit.

13. Play it online now at Oxford's Java PC (JPC) project: http://www.physics.ox.ac.uk/jpc/

I wonder which version it will be? Apple ][, a PC port, or a console port?

Personally, I'd rather see Shadow and Flame (PoP 2), which I never got the whole way through. I had the old Apple version back in the day -- I remember getting to the very end, with the (SPOILER!) invisible platforms, and wondering how the hell you're supposed to go on. I had to ask the guy at the game store (a software store that only sold Apple ][ games -- you can guess what happened) what to do, and he gave me a little hint. I can't believe that stuck with me for close to 20 years...
