Halo fanboy at heart, Chris Orgeron and his band created what they thought Halo 3's theme song should sound like. It's a lot more heavy on the rock side of things, but still incorporates the original Halo theme song feel featuring the "druid-like" moaning. Second thought, it seems to hit more onto Halo 2's mood with guitar in full force. Give it a listen and tell us what you think. Or are you a purist and think Bungie should just go back to an old school Halo theme song feel?

its a great song, but i wouldn't make it the "theme" - i'd just have it be a song on the soundtrack - just not the one for the menu and the trailer and stuff.

It has to be something more original than this.
Sounds too much like the old halo's... this one's too different. You'd be right in saying that it sounds good, but it doesn't match the Halo theme.

apparently, the only way to listen to it is to right click the link and save target as to your desktop - then you can listen to it through windows media player (cough)

ive always thought that the music/soundtrack to halo is one of the main reasons that halo is so great. its the only music i can listen to in the car and actually enjoy as real music. marty odonnel is a genius, and the fact that these people will spend time to write their own halo 3 music is fantastic. i cant wait to see what marty can pull off in halo 3 for real!

I really enjoyed that. The little touches (the moaning around 1:25 especially) really made it seem quite polished.
I would love to see a more metal track in the halo theme music. I would personally harmonised the last bit of the solo though, and extended some of the notes so that it's not so non stop. I actually recorded a version of the halo 2 theme about a year ago, which was similar in that both were more rock/metal, but this is much more polished.

Not bad really, like the metal sound, kindof like the song for the credits of Halo 2. Needs a bit of professional tinkering tho.
Still, i think Halo 3's theme should be original, just like Halo 2's music was very original from Halo: Combat Evolved.
Older music (from Halo: Combat Evolved, and Halo 2) should just be spread throughout the game and slightly remixed.

I think that a halo 3 theme song would actually deviate more from 2s music. This is supposed to be the culmination of the halo trilogy, not a heavier retread of the second game.
On its own its a cool interpretation of Halo 2s music though.

Absolutely horrible. Not for the content, but for the game, you must keep in mind that Halo 3 is about "Finish[ing] the Fight". The Theme song needs to retain the, obvious and iconic sound of Halo, yet convey the emotion that this is the end, this is where Master Cheif's Journey comes to a close. No offense, but metal will just not get you there.
Personally, I'm sure it's going to sound much like the Halo 3 song from the announcement, which you can get on iTunes.

I would like to correct myself, the song from the Announcement by Marty O'Donnell is called "Finish the Fight" but it definitely gives you an idea of what direction Marty and Bungie, I think, want to take the theme song.

It was "meh" at best. BTW that wasn't metal in the least bit. That could be why your taste failed you.

Not metal, at all.
Terrible guitar tone, and too "nu-metal" ish.

Thanks for the comments guys. I made the song by myself just for fun. I didn't really incorporate any of the melodic lines from Marty's new Halo music, so the Halo 3 title was just to get it some more attention.
To those who didn't like it; let me hear yours! Booyah!
