We haven't touched the Xbox 360 game Sonic the Hedgehog, but we're kind of glad we didn't. Following Revolution posted a video of the game's load times during some mini mission where you help out one of your human friends. And look what we have, a loading screen literally every five seconds. Seriously, if this loading screen appeared that much in the game Sonic would be ejected and flung against the wall out of disgust. This has to be horrible coding especially when a game like Gears doesn't bring up a load screen once during the game. Do you know of any other 360 game that we should avoid due to extremely long load times? Video after the break.[Via Digg]

"Why did they have to let Sonic go this way? The demo didn't have loading times like this... you can tell there just wasn't enough work from the developers." - Ciaran Gallagher
No worries about that, the real stages load the same as in the demo. And I hated that particular town mission too - because it's got the WORST LOADING PROBLEM IN THE GAME. There are only a couple other town missions in the game that have more than just the beginning and ending loading screens, and even those aren't as bad as this one. Still, I wish Sega had realized that it's stupid to make people wait through a long loading screen to see a short comment and then another long loading screen for the level. But keep in mind, TOWN MISSIONS ARE SIDE QUESTS. The real, required missions are much better with loading.

Only if you don't know much Sonic history at all. The story has its problems, but it makes a lot more sense than you think.

Oh, on another topic: Metalcore, have you no shame? If you're gonna brag and be obnoxious about the PS3, do so at PS3 Fanboy, PLEASE. Every console has its advantages and disadvantages; I can think of more than a few problems with the PS3 as well. Please, either shape up or shut up.

Sonic the Hedgehog is not a good game, regardless of what system it is released for. I think that the main problem is that Sega is trying to release the game for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3, and they actually are different.
You see, the transfer rate of information is actually faster with DVD than it is Blu-ray, which means that the Xbox 360 version should have fast load times. The reason why Sega probably delayed Sonic the Hedgehog on the Playstation 3 is probably because of these awful load times.
The really bad thing is that if Sega would have wanted to, they easily could have improved the load times on the Xbox 360 version. Sega was just too interesting in making the game the same on both systems, even if it meant not optimizing the game for the Xbox 360 and its faster data transfer rate.
The last Sonic game I played that was fun was on the Dreamcast. Sega should just stick to keeping Sonic a 2D game. There is no shame in keeping the gameplay 2D, but using 3D polygons rather than 2D sprites.

Gears has short loading times? HAHAHAHA!!!
Seriously, if you die then you have to sit through some long-ish loading times...

well if the game installs on the ps3 then the load times shouldn't be too bad. But hey load times or no load times this game still sucks.

now to ask the question, what exactly is it loading? There's only 1 or 2 lines of text with no voiceover after each load. Someone needs to teach Sega how to cache parts of the game, no matter how bad it is coded. There must be a ton of redundency.
