We haven't touched the Xbox 360 game Sonic the Hedgehog, but we're kind of glad we didn't. Following Revolution posted a video of the game's load times during some mini mission where you help out one of your human friends. And look what we have, a loading screen literally every five seconds. Seriously, if this loading screen appeared that much in the game Sonic would be ejected and flung against the wall out of disgust. This has to be horrible coding especially when a game like Gears doesn't bring up a load screen once during the game. Do you know of any other 360 game that we should avoid due to extremely long load times? Video after the break.[Via Digg]

Assault Heroes has some criminally long load times. Fortunately the game is worth the wait.

I had a go of the demo for Sonic a few weeks back. Not impressed at all.
Sega should do a classic Sonic side-scrolling platformer for XBLA. Sonic just doesn't work in 3D.

The far too frequent loading screens on Smackdown VS Raw are a bit much as well.

This is clearly an issue of the 360 using a previous generation optical drive. Now that Blu-ray has arrived, how can anyone put up with this? ;)

That Blu-Ray comment confuses me? I hope you don't think the BR drive is faster, because its the complete opposite.

Oh quit being a jackass PS3 fagboy just get out of here and go cry that you sold your soul for your blue-ray PS3 because I don't really have a problem with loding screens thats the time I get to sip my drink before I kick some ass!

I was kidding about the Blu-Ray comment for those who ignored the wink. The new Sonic simply sucks and it's sure to be even worse on the slower Blu-Ray format. Happy New Year!

How many bad games can you fit on a PS3 hard drive though? If every game that they can't be assed to optimize involves installing on the hard drive, you won't get very far.
God dammit. You just prompted me to count the number of 360 games on my shelf. It's pushing 30 now, and that doesn't count the XBLA games (of which I own them ALL! Like freakin' Pokemon...damn bastards) and the BK games, or the Xbox games that I've purchased after they hit the BC list this year (I owned a number of Xbox games before, so I won't hold my counting them against you).

Nearly every game I have has perfectly acceptable loading times.

Why did they have to let Sonic go this way? The demo didn't have loading times like this... you can tell there just wasn't enough work from the developers.

this game sucks, just ignore it completely to avoid the horrendous amount of wait of loading time to play a crappy game.

Slow like how quickly you kids learned about this huh? :)
I'm the poor sap who reviewed it for Xboxic (link's in my name, plug) and yes, they were absolutely horrible. Assault Heroes' load times are acceptable because it loads an entire zone, and Oblivion's are acceptable because unless you warp they don't interrupt gameplay. (Also, the game is huge.) In addition, these are actually good games.
What Sonic does, is you talk to the townsperson, then it loads forever, then he talks to you again, then it loads again, then you play the mission, then it loads again, and gives you your ranking, and one more load screen before you get back into town.
Needless to say this game was sold.

GoW has very short load times because it keeps loading once the game is in session. They're hidden in the background.
You can tell because textures get more detailed and sharper in the seconds following loading.

I own this game, it's bad. REALLY BAD. The story is poor and makes little sense. The load times are very long, as you can see...
So now the only reason I'm playing it is for some achievements.

Burnout Revenge loading times suck. They're not that long, but every time you restart a race it has to load it all again. This gets veeeeery annoying in hard races or so where you need to drive perfect from the start & keep restarting till u get it right.

OMG I´m posting this from my PS3 browser (oh sorry, your 360 cant do this)and im planning after this to play Gran Turismo HD that actually beats PGR 3 graphically. About the loading times, the PS3 Sonic game will be as fast as Sonic. Happy New Year 360 Fanboys.
PS3 Fanboys.
P.D. About the guy who asked how many crap could fit in a PS3 Hard drive?? This is the answer: 40 MORE GIGS THAN THE CRAP THAT WOULD FIT IN YOUR 360 : )
