After month's of whining, there's finally a product that does the simplest of things: lets you use your regular headsets with the Xbox 360 and maintain mute and volume control.
Datel has introduced yet another product to their growing stable of Xbox 360 peripherals (Bluetooth headset, 4GB HDD, Serial ATA HDD adapter, Memory Unit transfer kit), the humbly titled "Headset Adapter," which humbly performs that one simple task for the humble price of $10. Nice!

This item actually has some worth, but it took so long to come around that I wonder if MS already has a better headset in the pipeline that would make this purchase obsolete...

It comes with a splitter which allows two headsets to be plugged into the one controller. Does this mean the trash talking and high pitched voices (little kids) are going to skyrocket?

This is exactly why I didn't spend the time making one; someone else would do it.
Wow I'm lazy...all it takes is an 1/8" stereo jack and soldering a few wires. Oh well. I converted a broken Xbox communicator headset to an over-the-top style last week.
Does anyone know if there is enough room to just put the electronic board from the headset adapter inside of the controller? Seriously...

I was just talking with some friends last night wishing they would go ahead and release something like this, I even said "$10 would be the perfect price point to sell these things like crazy" guess I wasn't the only one thinking that. You gotta love datel's support for the 360.

Any other retailers selling this? codejunkies will only ship to billing address...since delivery dudes around my area like to leave packages outside the door for everyone to steal I'm not about to do that, ever.
