Her experience is corroborated by this thread at the Xbox.com forums, with four pages (and counting) of 360 owners claiming similar problems. Once again, this is surely a minority of users (mine's fine) but even a 0.01% problem is pretty significant. If you haven't upgraded yet, you might do best to refuse the update if you can live without Live until Microsoft acknowledges a problem or issues an updated patch.
Is the March update bricking 360s?

4. I had no issues, until last week's update, when my system started crashing pretty consistently within five minutes of booting. Until yesterday, I was able to play without any issues if, after it crashed, I left it on for about 10 minutes. Then, once I rebooted it, I would be fine. But since yesterday, things have gotten worst, where, even if I do get it to work, it works for maybe an hour and then crashes. When I called MS last night, they didn't seem surprised at all that my issues started with the update, so I think it's a known issue in Redmond. I can't wait for my replacement to arrive, so I can play some GRAW.

6. I have had a problem with my 360 in that it can only be played for a maximum of 24 hrs in any given day. If I leave it on for longer, friends (both of them) and relatives start to worry about its addictive effect. Other than that, it has worked perfectly fine since launch and the new update was pain free as well.

11. MS will replace it now. Just call them. I called for another issue and they told me my unit was under warranty until June, and I didnt' buy any additional warranty.
MS Doesn't need any more bad press. They should take care of you.

12. Well, my 360 has been fine from day 1, but after applying the March update, it now freezes up in games.

13. Yeah, this happened to me. I called them up yesterday, and they said they're gonna send a box today to send it to them for repairs. Apparently my console wasn't registered so the kind lady said she'd register as if I had bought it yesterday (Even though I had a launch console; bought it on Nov. 26). Still havn't received the box yet :/ and they said it'd take like 2 weeks.

15. My 360 froze after 30 minutes .It wasn't anything to do with the power supply.I threw it on E-bay got twice what i paid for it and bought a Nintendo DS.I'm never buying a Microsoft console again.I'm not a Sony/Nintendo fanboy either.I waited a long time for my 360 and paid a lot of money for it.I can say it's the worst let down i've had in Video gaming since i started playing them back in 1985.Flame away because i really don't care .

20. OMFG,
What a bunch of whiney b*tches! I'm really pissed off with people complaining about their consoles! Technology breaks down! Software is written by humans & Hardware is made by humans & Humans are fallible. When PS2 came out, how many consoles went FUBAR in the first month alone?! How many times have we updated XP & gotten the dreaded Blue Screen of Death (Thats why I use OS X)?! I've been playing video games since the late 70s and all I have to say is that I don't care what company makes the system, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sega, Coca-Cola, Advil, or whoever! If Radio Shack made a console with good games, here's my $300! The whole East Coast, West Coast, Wizards of the Coast console warfare has got to stop! STOP THE VIOLENCE!
Make Soap.
P.S. - Hey Stuart B., here is a novel idea, READ A BOOK.
