Pimping their new television show to the "youngins", The History Channel is offering free gamer picture and theme downloads for their latest docu-reality show Ax Men. Sadly though, Ax Men isn't about assassins running around New York City on a mission to kill, it's about the people involved in the logging industry. A very dangerous industry. The free downloads are available to U.S. Live subscribers and rate pretty low on the coolness scale. But they're free and we've never, ever been against free goodies. Ax Men premieres March 9th on The History Channel, Ax Men downloads premiere on the XBLM right now. Please be careful when downloading.

XBLM freebies: HP, Transformers and Sidekicks

Major Nelson gave us a heads up some newly free gamer pictures and themes that await on the Marketplace. Canadian Live members can get themselves both a free Transformers movie sponsored Chevy Camaro gamer picture and a pretty dashboard theme. US Live members have access to a free gamer picture (slash) theme download featuring HP's BlackBird 002 gaming rig and a free set of gamer pictures (slash) theme featuring the new T-Mobile Sidekick LX. Then of course there are is some older (and still free) content including the Ford Sync and LG Mobile. Wait ... we're starting to sound like peddling fools taken over by the corporate giants and their large pocketbooks. We feel dirty now ... that is unless a new Camaro outfitted with a BlackBird 002 gaming setup and a Sidekick holster would appear at Fanboy Towers. Then we'd feel dirty, but be really happy.

Free Live Earth downloads make Earth happy

Free Bom Chicka Wah Wah gamer pics

And now that we think about it, it's kind of odd that a theme like this could be approved for download when a theme like the Queenz got canned for being too mature. Maybe a multimillion dollar company backing the content has something to do with it.
T-Mobile giving out the free goods
Today, we have a few new (and free) gamer pictures and a theme up for download off the Xbox Live Marketplace. Cell phone provider T-Mobile has graciously put up a very pink dashboard theme and a few Sidekick gamer pictures. So, for all of you who are proud owners of Sidekicks or are in love with T-Mobile, now you can show off your cell phone pride. Because you know if Paris Hilton had an Xbox Live account, she'd be all over these gamer pictures. And who doesn't want to be like Paris Hilton?360 Queenz theme too mature for Marketplace

It looks like Microsoft put their foot down and stopped the sexually charged 360 Queenz theme and gamer pictures from making it to the XBLM. Deacon, the guy who posted the exclusive 360 Queenz preview, updated the Unscripted 360 community saying that "Microsoft isn't going to release it for whatever reason. too provocative? please. if this is too provocative then i'm at a loss for words". So, it's looking like those painted 360 girls won't be coming to an XBLM near you, because Microsoft thinks the whole thing reeks of bad taste. But look on the bright side, you are now free to spend those 150 Microsoft points that you were saving up. What's your opinion on this? Do you think those 360 Queenz were a little too sexy for the Marketplace or did Microsoft overreact just a bit? Vent away fanboys ...
[Thanks, AoE]
Where's that gamer picture from?
While cruising through your friends list on Xbox.com have you ever wondered where some of those gamer pictures come from? Well, we have, and thanks to Major Nelson's input and the tech guys who run Xbox.com they implemented a cool little feature. Now, if you hover your cursor over any gamer picture it'll give you a little more information to what game or picture pack it comes from. This feature is now fully supported by numerous browsers including IE, Firefox, and Opera. Just look for the alt tag to expand with the text or check your status bar for the gamer picture information. True, it's nothing huge, but is one of those nifty little feature that's cool to have and know about. Thanks Xbox.com team, you guys (and gals) are number one in our book.GRAW 2's 72-Hour Weekend picture pack

Kicking off GRAW 2's 72-Hour Weekend the Xbox Live powers that be have unleashed a free gamer picture pack to the XBLM. This GRAW 2 picture pack is only available to United States and Canadian residents, but so is the 72-Hour Weekend ... so it kind of makes sense. We just downloaded the gamer pictures and found three stylized blue and white characters with the fourth picture stating "GRAW Has A Posse". Now we can finally put a name to the loyal GRAW 2 fanboys ... a posse. Jump online this weekend for a chance to win a few prizes and have a whole lot of fun with your posse. Word?
Free Disturbia theme and gamer pics
Xbox Live members can head to the XBLM to download a free theme and gamer pictures for upcoming movie Disturbia. Free content from the marketing folks at the movies, sweet! Though, the free theme is kind of sad with a plain guide and the blade backgrounds being rather dull. But the gamer pictures are pretty good, including the eerie logo for the movie (as seen above). Go forth and download the free content, market thy movie, and spread the word of Disturbia!Free Blades of Glory theme and gamer pics
In love with competitive figure skating and just can't wait for the Olympics? Well, we didn't think so, but Will Ferrell's new comedy Blades of Glory is about figure skating and looks quite funny. And on the XBLM you can download a free movie theme and a set of gamer pictures. The theme is pretty okay, as the guide isn't the plain jane light gray we usually see. And we'll just say the gamer pictures are "goodish", if goodish is a word. Did we mention we enjoy free themes and gamer pictures? For some reason if the content is free we couldn't care less it was advertising shaving cream or the Smucker's jam ... we just love our free content. Anyway, time to download, you know what to do.Cologne and movie = free gamer pics and themes [update 1]
It has been a while since we've received free themes or gamer pictures from the XBLM, but that drought is no more. Jump onto Xbox Live and navigate to the gamer pictures and themes section, new releases of course. There you'll find three free downloads today. First up is from the the new Xbox Rewards program where you'll be able to get a free Old Spice Reward Challenge theme. But be warned, no guide background and a single image for every blade makes this free theme moderately worthless. The other free downloads come from the movie called Shooter, featuring Marky Mark Wahlberg. Here you can download a free picture pack and a theme for the movie. The theme is actually good featuring a blue Shooter logo for the guide and shots from the movie on each blade. That's all we have today for free goods, so get downloading.Update 1: Fixed spelling error. And we counted each download separately, one gamer picture set and two themes.
