Sometimes it's funny to poke fun at big-box retailers for missing small things, like release dates for example. From countless of broken street dates to outright insanity, the big guys have been known to make mistakes. This week, the Target flyer promoted Dark Sector as being teh new hotness -- unfortunately they didn't realize the game isn't scheduled to release until the end of the month.
We'd like to imagine the game section manager of each Target had his staff clear off a special area for the upcoming third-person shooter and proceeded to give a touching speech about how shoving strategy guide sales down our throats would only benefit us before they realized their shipment was a few items short.
[Thanks, Mike P.]

A Target I went to in Chicago actually had a spot for this game like 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure what they're doing.

yeah the target i work at (is it weird that everyone reading this article seems to work at a target)
had a spot for dark sector about a month ago, and it has just been empty space for all that time. I brought it up to somebody but they didn't care, so it stays. Hell yeah T-1913!

What's up with the "since a future release date has not been established" part. Hasn't a release date been established? So they are all sorts of f'd up. Have they heard of a little thing called the internet? Isn't there someone at Target corporate smart e-nuff to figure out how to either verify themselves or with their distributor about a future release date?

Yeah, hollywood video did the same thing. They put the wrong release dates on a couple of games in their new coupon ad they mailed out a week back.

short answer, mal f4ction, is no. Target corporate is retarded. All of the people who know what is going on has no authority, and nothing gets done right unless the little people do it themselves

Target has "leaders," not managers, which is odd because I never saw one in the 18 months I worked for them. Generally, the store and team leaders wouldn't be able to lead people out of a burning building, and I sure as hell wouldn't follow them.
to add to sigma--if the little people with no authority say something about doing things right, the store and team leaders will then concentrate on the one thing they do well--making your life suck even more than normal.

Target does not have a games section manager. I am a "Team Leader" of Electronics, Entertainment, Toys, Sporting Goods, Hardware, Luggage, and Automotive. As you can see Target spreads their middle management types too thin, which would account for mistakes like this not being fixed. Actually, since it's featured in our ad it's not even something we could fix besides what they printed out in that picture about it. Bottom line is Target sucks anyways and this mistake is no surprise.
