Fans of the Metal Slug series may have been disappointed to learn that Metal Slug 3 was stripped of its lifeblood for the Xbox Live Arcade release. The be more precise, the game was stripped of the fountains of blood created when characters get shot, stabbed, eviscerated, or otherwise dispatched. The blood was sneakily replaced with sweat for the North American release, as if the crafty people at SNK Playmore thought we wouldn't notice. Thankfully, there is a fix, and it's not even difficult to do. So, how does one turn on the red stuff? Is it ABACABB? No, much simpler actually. All you have to do is switch your console's language settings to Japanese. See, easy, right? The only hard part now is making sure you can find your way back to the language settings again. It's not hard to remember the layout of the dashboard. We've been using it for years now. Really easy to remember how to switch back and forth. If you forget there are always screenshots available online of the interface.

The chances of me buying this game just went down. I hate it when people censor video games because we're in the United States. This is the country that raises the age limit of movies based solely on their sexual and lingual content and almost completely ignores violence. Why should our video games be any different?

This just makes me hate "them" so much more. Those people who crusade to make the internet a better place for their kids, make games more accessable for their kids, make movies more watchable for their kids...
Goddamnit, grow up and BE a parent. If you don't want kids to see blood in a video game, THEN DO NOT LET THEM HAVE THE GAME. Don't cripple the designers of the game, force the artists to change their vision of what they wanted their game to be simply to placate your need to feel like you're doing something to "Better the world" Blood is a part of life, as is nudity. These things (When used to drive an emotion, story, action, or characters in games) are what make some games great. Mortal Kombat would have been complete trash if instead of tearing someone's skull and spine off; Scorpion said "Let's settle our disputes by schedueling a PTA meeting and talking about our feelings... Failing that, I'm afraid we'll be forced to take legal action, Subzero."
Don't get me wrong: I'm not advocating tasteless use of these devices... BMX XXX I'm talking about you... You too Redneck Rampage... But damnit don't do this to games. They have ratings for a reason. If you fail as a parent to stop your child from seeing blood, then it's YOUR FAULT. Either cope with it, or shut up. You don't need to ruin other people's enjoyment.
And developers: If you've lost your balls then you don't deserve our money. If you're willing to change your game to make M$ happy people will notice.
But if you're hell bent on censoring games, you might as well take a chisel to the David, burn every medical text you find, and let's not forget: Blame Canada...

Dosn't really bug me that much but I would like to say that this game is an excellent addition to my arcade. A masterful 2d shooter worth every penny. I would have given up 1200 ms points for this game. Back in the day I drove 2 hours to get to a mall that had Metal Slug one imported for the Saturn and that costed me 70 bucks. Plus this version offers Xbox live play with gamerscore and achievements. Not to mention when I wanna play it, its just a few clicks away from my dashboard. Superb job snk give us more.

If GoW can have blood turned off, why are they restricting us from a bunch of red pixels. It's not even realistic.

Doesn't work for me here in Finland. What a surprise! ._. This sucks. We didn't get Yaris at all either.. I know that game probably just sucks hairy balls, but still.. It's a free game with points!
