After posting the rumor about an Xbox 360
game cancellation going to be announced this week, fanboys and the internet have been abuzz. Everyone is trying to figure out which Microsoft published title is getting the axe or if the rumor has any credibility. And today we're pleased to cross a few games off the list of cancellation possibilities with both
Fable 2 and
Alan Wake confirming that they're still in development and far from being canceled. Both studios were quick to distance themselves from this nasty cancellation rumor, confirming their green light status on their respective forums.
So far our top cancellation contenders have fallen through with
Banjo-Kazooie 3,
Alan Wake and
Fable 2 all safe. So, what's left? We're done with our speculation, because honestly, we're starting to doubt the credibility of this rumor. But feel free to throw some more names out there, maybe more studios will start denying cancellation rumors and we can widdle down our potential list some more.

What about Fallout 3? Or that massive car game that requires a HDD to play - whatever the heck that's called?

Halo Wars? Haven't heard much about that for awhile, and being a Halo property, its cancellation would likely lead to the removal of somebody's head.

I wouldn't/don't think fable 2 whould have been at risk at all. It sounds like they have their act together.

I still say it's that Marvel themed MMO. Haven't heard squat on that forever. Plus MGS has a habit of cancelling cool MMO ideas, True Fantasy Live Online anyone?

Most likely it's Too Human.

In terms of the Marvel themed MMO being cancelled, I could understand that. I read an article about it a long time ago that raised a very good point: its practicality. Think about it, half the users are going to want to be wolverine or spiderman, do you really need a server full of Spidermen humping your chest after they webbed you?
While it sounds great on paper, I just dont see the logistics of a Marvel MMO working.

Which is being published by Midways, so... no.

@ Gemini Ace
UT3 is not a MGS published title.

Shouldn't the frontrunner from the start be "Peter Jackson's Unnamed Halo Project"? That's what I thought, and that's what I still think.
It makes by far the most sense:
1. Its 1st party
2. its been talked about enough to be a quasi-official game
3. Peter Jackson is a busy guy and who knows how involved he really was
4. It was almost certainly somehow tied into the canceled movie
5. no one has seen anything about the game
6. Halo Wars, Fable, Alan Wake, and the other contenders are obviously not being canceled, and are all pretty close to being done.
I don't know, I think this is pretty obvious, unless you just don't even consider a project that never got off the ground even eligible.

I think it could be Crimson Skies II, Blinx III, MechAssualt 3, (Or Bloodwake II/Brute Force II ;)) But those haven't even been announced yet. If it had to be one that has been announced, then I'd say Lost Odessey (maybe just the American version, since it was pushed to 2008). Marvel might be a candidate too.

I dont care what it is im just thanking every religious deity that it isn't Alan Wake, I'm sure there's potential for it to be grossly disappointing but so far it's just been gravy... damn good gravy at that!

If it's something that's been announced, I'll go with eurotransient and vote for Halo Wars. If it's something that hasn't really been announced yet, I'll nominate a Crimson Skies sequel for the 360.

I immediately thought of the Peter Jacksons Halo Project also. But I am a bit doubtful. Perfect Dark also seems a reasonable guess also.

I still say its Sneak King II and/or Big Bumpin' 2:Electric Bumpaloo
A shame too, as this round the King was going to be assassinating people instead of feeding them.
