As many of you know, Valve's compilation of Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal all bundled together and marketed as the Orange Box released today (yes, Wednesday) and the reviews are looking on the up.According to the Orange Box metacritic page, the game is pulling in an average rating of 97 with perfect 100 scores coming from Yahoo! Games, EuroGamer, GameTap and GamePro. Yes, yes, we know there are only six reviews currently posted and the law of averages tends to predict that the game will fall a bit from its 97 perch, but seriously, the Orange Box is looking like an Xbox 360 winner. Then again, it's not like we ever doubted Valve's little color coded box-o-fantastic greatness. It's just that we now have metacritic proof and that gives us warm fuzzies.

Don't really know if I want to get this, as I'm still working on Halo 3 achievements, and I also have a loooot of other games I'm going to be buying this holiday season. So many choices, so little money.

I'm waiting away in my cube at work right now. Two and half more hours until I can run out and pick this up.
I've gotten pretty much all the Achievements I want out of Halo at this point and the screaming pre-pubes seem to have paid off Bungie or something because I'm getting matched with them more often now so TF2 will be that much sweeter.

97 will change tomorrow, and Halo has 60 total reviews. I think the reason this title will score high is because you get so many good games in one package, you can't go wrong in purchasing this.
Honestly, I was only interested in TF2, but after reading a couple reviews I don't think this game will pry me away from Halo 3. Not enough gametypes, maps, customizability, just a fun class-typed gameplay that will entertain me for only a month. Again I'm only talking about the multiplayer aspect.
Anyways just expressing my opinion, whoever gets this I'm sure they'll enjoy it very much!

I'll pick this up next week during the TRU b2g1 sale.
Although I am busy getting the FFA achievements in Halo 3. Seriously, why FFA and not team, or both?

As big a fan as I am, I can't fathom how TF2 will be good on a console.
You've got classes that very specifically require snapshot precision or quick movements not suited to the platform. (the soldier class's rocket jumping comes to mind as an example)
I suspect heavy+medic combos will be more dominant under that platform than they already are.

I was in the same situation. I went to go pick it up during lunch and ended up getting the last one for non pre-orders. I also hear that they are getting sold out everywhere. Good luck !

Apples - why cant you look down and shoot a roccket and then jump on a controller? I dont see the issue with it. Yeah, sniping and other precise shots suck, but I dont think it will be that bad to port to console.

I don't know about Portal or TF2, but I MUST HAVE EPISODE TWO!! I played HL2 and Episode One on the PC and they were amazing, the best FPSs I've ever played. Since then I've switched over to the Xbox 360 for my gaming, so I can't wait to play this on the 360.

Oh, dont worry Momo. I've pre-ordered.
And I'm inclined to believe that if I can grenade jump I can rocket jump. Right finger shoots rocket, thumb jumps, analog looks. What's so hard about that?
I agree that speed, turning and accuracy on console shooters is never what it is on PC shooters but since cross-platform play is not an option us console guys will all be on even ground. Unless TF2 will support a USB keyboard and mouse. That'd be great.

I think Bioshock might get traded towards this. It would be a good break from all the screaming kids on Halo 3 right now. I agree w/ thisguyrighthere, it seems Bungie is paying 13yr olds to play Halo 3.
Anyhow, I may just have to clean up the collection today and see if I can't pick this up. I've never played Half Life 2, but I've heard too many good things about it not to try.

off topic: the main gripe i have with Halo is that 75% of gameplay involves Melee. Melee is way too over powered.
all everyone does in the game:
1)Run towards you
2)Shoot you
3)Then Melee you
4)Rinse and Repeat
it gets boring after about 30 min.
