If you already have decided on purchasing the Orange Box this coming Tuesday you can save $5 on your purchase if you're willing to pre-order the game at Gamestop. From now through October 9th (the game's release date) Gamestop is willing to chop $5 off the game's price if you plop down a few bucks on an Orange Box pre-order. True, $5 isn't all that much of a savings, but if you're already purchasing the game then why not save a few bucks and treat yourself to a McFlurry or a few lottery tickets with your cash savings. There's no need to thank us, we're always looking out for ways to keep your wallet from becoming empty. That's just the kind of bloggers we are.[Thanks, BostonKingB]

there is a catch though, i paid for mine in full and it was still $59.99 at the time i preordered. so what happens is when you preorder it, it still cost regular price then when you come to pick it up they give you $5 back. so its not $5 off in the beginning.

I really want to get this game becuase Portal and TF2 look awesome! but I don't really get the preorder scheme thing... is it like 59 if you dont preorder but 54.99 if you do preorder but then its 50.00 becuase of the 5 bucks you saved and your preorder money.So if i preorder i pay 50.00 bucks for the 360 version? if yes i'll gets this game this week! :)

erivera3, you saying the Halo series offers anymore than generic FPS gameplay nullifies any other comment from you. (See, it's not hard to make a stupid statement about how someone's opinion nullifies any further comments they make!)
The Halo series has yet to create a well-designed level. All of them are utterly generic with no atmosphere what-so-ever. There's no decoration in the levels, and almost all of them are symmetric and have one area cloned numerous times to create the full level.
And, please, Halo and Halo 3 ending on a "escape" driving level? How stereotypical can you get? Both the levels also illustrate the point I just made -- they are the exact same segments cloned multiple times to make a level.
Halo games are good, but they're not great. They are titles that are about 5 years behind anything that comes out on the PC. They lack any innovation what-so-ever and are utterly generic. The thing is, they do multiplayer extremely well and are very polished. To say Halo's singleplayer is better than Half-Life 2 is a slap in the face of gaming.
Oh, and how did Halo get into the conversation? Look at your first post in the topic (post #11).

#22 i think u failed math or something. this is how it works, you pay full price if you pay it off even when preordering, then when u pick it up you get $5 back which makes it $54.99, not $50. where the hell did you get $50 from?

@23
Look at post #8, idiot. THAT is how Halo got into the conversation, somebody ALWAYS has to compare these upcoming good games to Halo because Halo is the game series to beat. That is just something you will have to accept one day, man up.

Meh. I disagree with that. At least the Halo games attempt to have stories... bad ones, yes, but they TRY.
If you ask me...
Every single FPS on any platform is 5 years behind Deus Ex.

25: No shit, Sherlock. You asked how Halo got in the conversation, then you continued it yourself. Think about it for a second, re-read what you post, and realize your error here, "idiot."
Furthermore, Half-Life 2 has already been released for a good while, and The Orange Box is just a collection of Half-Life 2 games. It doesn't need to beat any game, it's already stood on its own merit.
I have to "accept" that Halo is the game to beat and I need to "man up"? Please. Halo already lost on the PC to Half-Life 2, pal.

@24 It's 50.00!!!! because you put 5 bucks down and then save 5 bucks (that works if you put 5 bucks down to preorder you only need to pay 50 usd more since you gave them $5 already to ensure your copy!!!! i know what your thinking oh $55 but that would have to include your preorder moolah! and i'm saying you put the 5 dollar deposit you save 5 bucks and you only owe them 50.00 plus the tax of the game! pwned! (if you get what i'm saying :P)
