Marvel Vs. Capcom on XBLA? Marvel hopes so

Speaking to Gamasutra, Marvel vice president of interactive media Justin Lambros intimated that he would like to see classic Marvel fighting games hit game download services like Xbox Live Arcade. Producing games like X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Superheroes and massive fighting mashups like X-Men Vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Vs. Capcom, fighting fans have fond memories of the collaboration between Capcom and Marvel. When asked about the possibility of such games hitting a service like XBLA, Lambros said, "Yeah, those are among my all time favorites. I'm a huge 2D fighting fan... the Marvel Vs. Capcom stuff has a definite close place in my heart, so we definitely wanna see that stuff live on." It seems that there aren't any firm plans to bring back any specific titles, so don't get your hopes up just yet.

Still, if Puzzle Fighter and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix make an impact on XBLA, maybe we'll see the same kind of attention paid to the Marvel classics.

23. I think by the end of next year xbla could be the 360's biggest selling point with the quality of games that keep coming up.

25. For anyone who owned MVC2 on Dreamcast like myself, you KNOW that was the best fighting game of all time and a perfect arcade translation. Let's pray that they bring it to the 360. (Online battles :) )

26. Where is all the outrage over this game not working right on the 360? I need some outraged people who will write to microsoft and demand a fix.

27. CotA was one of my favorites in the arcade growing up -- lost a lot of quarters there.

To the Dreamcast owners: it would be worth re-buying for Live play.

This also highlights an issue I've been pissed about for a while -- the MS monopoly on their wireless protocol. Seriously, what gives? Unless I'm mistaken, you can only buy wired 3rd-party controllers, and MS hasn't exactly been wowing us with innovation on the wireless front: black, blue, and pink, with exactly the same buttons and sticks. Awesome.

I got Puzzle Fighter for my wife, which is her favorite console game of all time, but she barely plays it because the D-Pad on the MS controllers sucks so very, very bad. I'm probably going to wind up buying her a 3rd-party wired controller, but I'm not happy about the tether -- and the wireless controller *I'm* stuck using when we play together is still going to have a shitty d-pad, which means I'll still be unable to really do well in fighting games (like MvC or CotA)...

28. What do we have to do to make this happen? The fanboys need to mobilize on this one immediately. Make it so, Capcom!
