If you make your way over to Bungie.net for some Halo 3 stats action you may notice a few cosmetic and feature upgrades. And even though Bungie hasn't announced the Service Record updates (look for news in today's Weekly Update) we spotted the changes yesterday, so let's get to 'em.
Heatmaps. Yup, Bungie added a multiplayer Heatmaps tab in the Career Stats section that allows you to look at each multiplayer map and see where you kill and get killed the most. It's what we in the biz call a "hot" feature. Moving along we also noticed some cosmetic changes in the Service Record's header. Rockin' a new honeycomb background the header now displays your rank and experience point details on the left with your rank, pin and campaign completion logos to the right. Back in the Career Stats section, you'll now notice that your Tools of Destruction area is sporting percentages and when you hover over each weapon it'll display a rendered in-game picture of the weapon instead of the blue and white outlined artwork.
There may be other Halo 3 Service Record features or cosmetic updates that we didn't see or stumble across, so hit the comments and speak up if you found something else. Otherwise, the new Heatmaps inclusion and overall cosmetic updates really add to the already feature-rich Halo 3 stats section and it's good to see Bungie is willing to make tweaks. Stats FTW!

Also if you go to edit your bnet profile you'll notice that there's a new option to make your forum avatar the same as your Halo 3 player model. Now you can show off to everyone your sweet Recon armor (or not if Bungie hasn't given it to you yet).

Whoo who, it's funny cause you said hot feature and the feature is hot mapping.(Said with a high pitched Indian accent.) Screw you if you don't get the reference.

Anyway, I love how extensive they are with this site. Good times, really makes me love the game even more.

I also noticed yesterday that the "Classified: We're calling our lawyers" kill now shows a cone flying at a spartan's head.

Just checked out the heatmaps, very nice addition.
I checked out my deaths, and was pleasantly surprised to see the whole map WASN'T covered in a big red glow!
But the kills weren't even lukewarm either!!

There are also "global heatmaps" (accessible via the drop-down menu at the top: Bungie Online > Global Heatmaps). These are quite cool for finding out general trends for the level. For instance, if you switch it to Kills/Sniper, you can find all the good camping spots ;)

@11 While I enjoy both games and while Halo 3 has more stat tracking options than Halo 3 COD4 holds it own very nicely against Halo 3 IMO. Both are great games and should be enjoyed not pitted against one another!

You guys forgot the best feature of them all! When you play a game it updates within 3 seconds of the completion of your game!
In a nutshell...IT'S HELLA-FAST NOW! We'll see how fast it updates this weekend when everyone is on though.

I wish they would fix the game first before they add stuff like this, namely the lackluster maps, the boring playlists, and the damn melee system. Halo 3 is so commercialized I can't even play it anymore.

that's cool, but i already knew those places were death traps or that place is a great place to kill. it's called a MEMORY.
it also doesn't really do much for me since the map is usually red in both Death By, Kill Most categories. they both look the SAME.
nice feature, kinda worthless. *moving on*

If you goto Post Game Carnage report, then mouse over a players logo, you get all sorts of info on them too for that round.
