Fanswag: Win a copy of BioShock, get it overnighted (Part 1) [We have a winner]

[Update: A winner has been chosen. Congratulations to ZappaKitty!]

So, perhaps you heard that certain Toys R' Us locations are selling BioShock early. While we haven't been lucky enough to find a copy at our local store, Joystiq has snatched up four (count 'em four) copies of the game and decided to share them with us! Yes, we'll be giving away two copies of BioShock right here on X3F. Even better, the games will be overnighted to the winners so that they can get their BioShock on before anyone else. Both Joystiq and X3F will be giving away two copies today, for a grand total of four. What do you have to do to win? Here's the skinny:
  • Leave a comment below that tries to make us not excited about BioShock (spoiler alert: you can't!)
  • You may only comment on this specific post once. If you leave more than one comment, you'll be automatically disqualified so be careful, ok?
  • If you enter more than once, only activate one comment -- otherwise we'll send a Big Daddy after you
  • You can also enter our Part 2 giveaway, and both of Joystiq's giveaways (Part 1 & Part 2), giving you a total of four chances to win. You can only win once though. Not bad, eh?
  • This contest is open to readers in the US only
  • Entries can be submitted until 11:59 am ET on Friday, August 17th.
Official rules are here, so check 'em if you've got any questions.

1841. Ya... the idea of being in an underwater city is SOOO appealing. Espeacialy to people with week bladders or who are afraid to swim already. Time so scare some people and TRAUMATIZE them for life! "Lets not forget kids, the people will cut you open for no reason if you do a bad job floating properly!"

1852. Hmm... This game contains neither Master Big Daddy nor Big Daddy Chief. You can't use The Force or Photon Torpedoes.

On the plus side, I hear the mine cart level totally rocks.

1858. The widespread excitement for BioShock is completely unfounded, especially when based upon the abysmal demo. Let us count the ways that this game underwhelms, shall we?

Way the First: Your plane crashes into an ocean? It clearly said "Mid-Atlantic" on the screen and everyone knows that the "Mid-Atlantic" is the grouping of states in the eastern central portion of the United States. You should have been crashing in Pennsylvania or Maryland.

Way the Second: Your character is an ass. How many other people drowned to their deaths while your amorphous avatar was busy swimming to the surface? There's no excuse for this cowardice.

Way the Third: Speaking of that swimming, even Super Mario 64 actually let you swim through water. In BioShock, it's just a cut scene! And during the swim, the protagonist gulps enough that he should be plenty drowned before reaching the surface. It's just not realistic.

Way the Fourth: The transitions from cut scene to game play are terrible. You emerge on the surface of the water, surrounded by flames, and it all looks as good as the intro so there's no way of knowing that you can now take over. What the hell is that about? We rely on a noticeable reduction of image quality in order to know that the game has begun proper. I sat there for five minutes watching fire waiting for the intro to continue before realizing I was supposed to do something.

Way the Fifth: While sitting there forever, I noticed that the tail section of the plane never completely sinks. Come on. Unless the plane was carrying a shipment of pre-inflated party balloons, that tail should have dropped just as fast as the fuselage.

Way the Sixth: You've just crash landed into the Atlantic where you found an inexplicable staircase that leads into a suboceanic tower. What do you do? Do you wait it out in the tower to see if a rescue party arrives or do you walk straight into a submarine that goes God knows where and subject yourself to God knows what? Me? I would have just hung out for a little while and done some fishing.

Way the Seventh: Andrew Ryan? Objectivism? The whole game is propaganda intended to get the 18-34 male market to buy Ayn Rand books. The game might as well have mapped the Select button to Amazon's 1-Click to purchase the entire Rand library.

Way the Eighth: Does Rapture not have a board of tourism? The first place you go to is a shit hole, leaking water, strewn with rubble. What kind of Utopia fails to maintain its primary entrance? Even Atlas does little more than shrug off the fact that there's a new guy in the submarine visiting town. "Pick up the radio. Do what I say or you're dead." That's not a proper welcome. Not at all.

Way the Ninth: Plumbers never leave their tools behind. Never.

Way the Tenth: If Rapture is such an awesome place, why do they leave DNA altering substances in large syringes sitting next to dolls? That's just asking for trouble. Hey kids, look! Isn't that a funny doll? Uh-oh, don't touch the syr... well, crap. Now you can shoot lightning bolts. How are you supposed to put a kid in Time Out when he can just turn around and zap you in the tub?

Honestly, that's ten problems with just the first five minutes of the demo! There's no way the rest of the game is any better. The mass enthusiasm behind BioShock is horribly misplaced, and I predict there will be a lot of disappointed gamers come next Wednesday.

I predicted this same level of disappointment for that turd Halo. I hate to say I told you so, but...

Well, let's just say that you'll all be nodding your heads in agreement next week.
