Considered by many to be one of the best games available on the Xbox 360, most of us thought a sequel to Dead Rising was a certainty. It may then come as a surprise to fans to learn that the game is currently not in production at all. In a recent interview, Keiji Inafune told Game Informer that he'd like to produce a potential sequel, but it's not in the works right now. Inafune adds that the game is being considered in Japan, and that it's the one project being considered that he'd like to produce the most, but there are still many technical and financial issues to be considered. X3F readers will know that both Dead Rising and Lost Planet were very successful in the west, but not so much in Capcom's native land of Japan. Anyone want to take odds odds on seeing Resident Evil 5 before Dead Rising 2?

For the love of God, somebody phone up Mattrick and tell him is first priority needs to be getting lots of money to Inafune-san to crack on with Dead Rising 2. Its my absolute favourite 360 game. The size, scope and ambition, freedom....I love it.
I still have multiple endings to watch not to mention some of the most challenging (but not impossible) achievement system going.

I have 1000/1000 (wow, it was hard.) in Dead Rising. I absolutely LOVED that game.. and still do, even after whoring the achievements out of it for 4 days straight. Its just a genius game that sucks you into its world and makes you a part of it.

Definately a huge IP and they need to get cracking on a sequel. It's a shame that Keiji Inafune is doing more business than game design now. I guess if they do make a sequel we will have to wait for his internal work at Capcom to finish and that could be years.
Capcom you need to get on this!! How can a million+ seller even have a debate on doing a sequel? And it sounds like Keiji san is more than eager to work on it.

Considering the EXTREMELY DEPRAVED portrayal of blacks in Resident Evil 5 (check the racist trailer out today to get what I mean), I'm personally banning Capcom from my console in future releases. With that said, I'd expect the company to make Dead Rising equally as offensive and in poor taste. Hell, what's next Capcom, 'Sickle Cell Man' your new boss in Mega Man?
I won't be buying Capcom products, DR2 included.

What we truly need is a coop system for Dead Rising 1! I've heard rumors about that(maybe here maybe not, don't remember) and just can't wait to see if something like that happen...

Toph, it is people like you who get offended over the littlest thing that the FCC and all the other bullshit organizations claim they are fighting against. Go look at Africa and then tell me that it is a bogus claim. Oh, wait, I forgot. Everyone in Africa is free to do what they want and they have one of the best economies ever. They ARE depraved in Africa. Why don't you spend your time fighting for them instead of whining about a video game that most Africans will never see. perhaps we should all behave the way you do. The first person I'm going after is Dave Chappelle. He makes fun of white people. BOO HOO. Grow the fuck up and stop thinking everyone should take your
feelings into account you damn baby.

Too bad EA didn't publish Dead Rising. They'd already have II and III in production 3 months ago.

um, correct me if i'm wrong, but the only thing RE and DR have in common is zombies. they are completely different in every other aspect. RE=Survival Horror, DR=quirky, darkly comical, grand theft zombie

Toph,
the game takes place in Africa, i think it would be more racist to make the with only white people in africa. You do know the game is about ZOMBIES right? RE=zombies. It's not portraying those people as naturally being decrepit corspes attacking people..
Not to meantion, THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM IS JAPANESE, It's not "The white man trying to keep the black man down"
I would have to say you are probably INCREDIBLY ignorant of the situation of some african nations if you believe any of what was displayed in that trailer were worse conditions or more derogatory than reality, considering what some documentary teams have filmed due to the darfur incidents, the people in the RE5 trailer are protrayed as being in a better situation than they actually are.
By avoiding taboo subjects such as racial tension, you are just making them worse, by putting them in the limelight, you make it easier to swallow, and it will eventually go away and be nothing but a pock mark on american history.
You are clearly some white little nerdy bitch who used to get his ass whiped in highschool and feel you are doing your civic duty by fighting a battle no one asked you to fight.
By pegging the new RE5 trailer as a grand insult to black people and being racist, you are in fact showing how much YOU ARE THE RACIST.
Congrats.
