Gamecock reveals Section 8

It's not exactly like the Xbox 360 is short on futuristic first person shooters. Let's see, we've got BlackSite, Haze, TimeShift, and of course we can't forget about Halo 3. That isn't stopping the lads at Gamecock from announcing Section 8, though. Coming from TimeGate, developers of F.E.A.R. Extraction Point. Section 8. The trailer shows off some impressive graphics as shock troopers descend through a planets atmosphere. We're immediately reminded of Halo's Hell Jumpers, which isn't a bad thing. The game promises to give players command of special tactical maneuvers like on-demand vehicle deliveries. We don't know much more about the title, save that it is scheduled to arrive in 2009. With any luck, we may see something at E3 next week.

1. That's it? I'd hope they have something at E3, otherwise what's the point of showing something so early?

2. Section 8? Isn't that like government subsidized housing for poor people?

Well played, Gamecock...well played

3. The fact that it's a Gamecock game is an auto-buy for me.

4. Meh, now that Halo will be ending all of the bider companies want to come along and quench peoples thirst for the game in coming years.

6. xbots ENJOY playing with their GameCock

Anyway, still waiting waiting for my HOME BETA on the PSN... wait wrong site...

7. 6. "xbots ENJOY playing with their GameCock"

By the way, it says coming to next-gen consoles- that would also mean your PS3.

8. I too am wondering what this has to do with subsidized housing John.

Maybe they will sell it for less than $59.99.

9. You guys talk about Halo as if its the most original sci-fi content to grace us. Halo rips off just about every sci-fi movie/book thats ever been popular.

Posted at 4:19PM on Jul 3rd 2007 by cfsage

10. Yawn. Seriously, why would they release a trailer like that? In an already overcrowded genre, (well... the more the merrier, IMHO), they reveal absolutely nothing about the game and use pre-rendered video. I wonder if they contracted this out to Krazy Ken.

Judging by your comments in the last thread I replied to, you're a poor, bitter fanboy. Don't come crying here, because you blew $600 on a system that developers don't want to touch with a ten foot pole.

11. Halo is pretty unoriginal though, even for a children's title, I mean its basically an unlicensed Power Rangers game.

Posted at 5:06PM on Jul 3rd 2007 by psyborg

12. psyborg, LOL at whatever the f*** your comment was supposed to mean.

Why are there so many haters on this site right now? It doesn't make sense. 360 has great games on it, PS3 will have great games on it. Who cares!

cfsage has an almost decent point. halo does barrow a lot, but it doesn't rip off. It is difficult to not rip-off Dune, Foundation, and other classics which I assume cfsage has read all of and studied since he knows so much about how halo ripped them off.

13. Trailer says coming soon, article says 2009. That isn't very soon. What is it? 2008 or very late?

Posted at 8:53PM on Jul 3rd 2007 by MartenKL

14. 2009!
By then there will be no 360's in working order, jesus!

As far as halo goes, The story dose borrow from various others.
As far as gameplay goes, there is nothing in halo that hasnt been done a million times b4 halo was ever made. Since Halo 3 offers again nothing new, same gameplay and underpar graffix compared with the competition of other fps games, there is no reason to get it. Halo 3 is gonna be an online universe of kids ages 13 and under. The ones that are 14-17 were the 13 and under kids from halo 2...Yay.

15. Unless this game allows me to play as corporal Klinger in a gingham dress with scarlet pumps I'm gonna be disappointed. Heheh...

Posted at 10:42PM on Jul 3rd 2007 by Yardarm51

16. "Section 8" in USA Military terms is when someone goes crazy and is kicked out of the service. With that in mind, this game could get quite interesting.
