Xbox 360 Fanboy reader and
Forza 2 aficionado Spinthelights sent us a couple shots of two very nice X3F themed cars. The level of detail is pretty astounding, as they mirror the logos and banners of the main site with remarkable accuracy. Also, this is a perfect time to start up a gallery of user submitted Forza 2 cars. They don't have to have our logo plastered across the hood, but we appreciate the effort fellow fanboys put into letting everyone know which site they go to for all their Xbox 360 news. Do you have any
cool Forza 2
cars, send us your works of art either in the comments, or in a tip.
[Thanks, Spinthelights]

Yeh i really wanna know whats up with that.
Tbh i'm not really a driving fan but importable images for custom cars is a 100% sale point for me tbh.
Really impressive

No you can't import images to the cars. It would make things a lot easier, but overall it would diminish the fun of making your own work of art.
Here's my car:

spinthelights: Wow, that's awesome. I actually had the idea of doing an X3F car this morning, but I couldn't have done nearly as good a job as that. Are you offering up the 360 controller as a stamp on the Auction House? I'm sure it would be very popular.

is it me or do some of these screen shots show off how badly Forza 2 is composited?
look how sharp the cars are compared to the background! too much focus on the car i think.
Dirt and Project Gotham 4 are lookin very nice tho...

@ ryan
Take a photography class. When you're focused on a car moving at a high speed and you want a quick exposure time, you open the aperture as wide as it can. This makes the subject in focus and the background appear blurred.

no no, i'm serious. lookat any trailer or gameplay of forza 2 and the car is always in focus, always so dang sharp, even in the distance.
i'm taking a compositing class and there's ways to prevent this.
i mean, yes, a photograph, granted, will do this, but moving footage?

Oh... After watching some footage, I see what you mean. The cars look to sharp and appear to be floating over an out-of-focus image. I didn't notice this while playing, though.

if it's done on purpose to show off the detail of the car (because it is very nice detail) then it comes off as unnatural, and artificial.
the stuff Magazine shots are made of- but in real time.
my point i guess is that it's unrealism is a bit of a let down. the customazation is off the hook tho...

@ Ryan,
You're right, the moving footage on a lot of Forza 2's promo material has that odd style of the car always being in tight focus, as though the car and track are filmed at different film speeds. The actual in-game replays don't seem to suffer from that problem as far as I've seen, and in-game racing looks natural.
As for the still shots, the game allows you to set aperture, film speed, focus, etc. so much of the composition is up to the player. It is possible to keep all the distances in frame in focus, as well as keeping the ground sharp also. It's just a personal preference. A lot of the car-specific photos are created to either to show off the design of a single car or attempt a dynamic composition, hence the tight focus, slow film speed and shallow depth-of-field.
BTW, excellent other cars everyone.
