WRUP: magical combat on wheels edition

Posted Jun 1st 2007 9:30AM by Richard Mitchell
Filed under: What are you playing?

What's this? An edition of WRUP that's not about the Halo 3 beta? Wha? That's right folks, there are actually some noteworthy new games out this week that may just pull you away from the beta. On one hand we have the simulation-heavy driving of Forza Motorsport 2, and on the other we have the unique magical combat of Shadowrun. We know for a fact that one of our writers has officially forsaken the Halo 3 beta for the team dynamics of Shadowrun. Will you do the same, or do you have even bolder plans for the weekend? The question, as always, is: what will you be playing this weekend?

1. Halo 3 Beta is horridly over-rated.
Too much of the same game I saw back in 04, sick of halo.
*gears of War ftw"

2. Wide ranginess: Gears Multi, Dirt Demo, Prince of Persia on Xbox1 and StarCraft

Posted at 9:39AM on Jun 1st 2007 by Jcarpio

3. I'll be trying to hammer out Enchanted Arms (it's on rental and I'm only at about 15% completion.)

And I'll be giving Mad Tracks a go, with a view to purchasing.

Unfortunately I can only just afford an XBLA game let alone a full price retail one! :o(

And yeah to the previous comment, Gears is still #1 for me!!

4. Finishing up the couple of Crackdown achievements I have left and then on to many hours of Halo 3 beta...there's nothing better than sneaking up on a camper and then taking a shotgun to the back of their head.

5. Forza 2 for me. I'm done with the Halo 3 Beta...

And there's also the fact that my woman's back from a 3 week trip to Hong Kong tonight...so I'll be with her for most of the weekend...except sunday night when i'm havin 2 friends over for game night...forza 2 and the halo 3 beta. gonna be fun!

I played the mad tracks trial...and I'm completely appauled. No purchase from me!

6. "there's nothing better than sneaking up on a camper and then taking a shotgun to the back of their head."

aaah yes. the good times. its even better when its a sniper and he's zoomed so he doesn't have his radar.

7. not too sure what I'll be playing this weekend.
Guitar hero and wii action with the gf. hopefully I can get a game of Halo 3 and Gears of War this weekend too.

8. Forza 2, MLB 2K7 and an oldie but a goodie, FIght Night Round 3!!

I am loving that game more now than I ever did!!

Oh yeah, I just picked up Lego Star Wars II for $12 @ EB, really fun game, easy but fun(ny) too.

9. Still more Halo 3 Beta for me.

10. Earth Defense Force, Just got this game and its crazy fun, why wasnt it online? It would of been fun as hell. Also Gears of War always.

11. Beta and Guitar Hero, period.

Posted at 10:26AM on Jun 1st 2007 by Stephen

12. Forza 2. Freaking great game. The more I play it, the more obvious it gets that IGN's review is full of crazy-talk.

Posted at 10:28AM on Jun 1st 2007 by Tony

13. Waiting on reviews for Shadowrun or maybe even the beta before I take the plunge.

Posted at 10:30AM on Jun 1st 2007 by Stephen

14. Gears of War and Dirt demo for me.
It's not going to be easy to go back to Halo after playing Gears. Gotta love those random Locust pieces flying away after an active reloaded shotgun shot...just can't get enough of it!

15. SHADOWRUN
...and that's really about it for now.

16. definitely forza 2. halo 3 beta is too much of a tease. if i get in a halo habit it will be killer to have to break it. forza 2 is freaking great anyway. after i fully realized it was a true racing sim, bringing me back to days of gt3 and gt4, and that i couldn't jump out of the car the first time another racer nudged me, spinning me out of control, and rocket his bitch ass. i also like how it doesnt make you interested in achievements. you dont have to race 100 times in a ridiculous car that's impossible to win in for a mere 20 points. they've actually got you just interested in playing and racing, getting new cars, so bravo turn 10.

17. Nothing maybe. None of th estores around me have Forza2 yet.
I might check later today or tommorrow.

18. Forza 2

Maybe I will play some Rainbow Six Vegas and GRAW 2. More/less, I am planning a gaming weekend at the Wireless wheel.

As for the Halo 3 Beta, I'm done playing it. Getting past the point that it's "Halo", there are better shooters on the 360 than the Beta. Plus, all of that Halo 3 time didn't help the gamerscore one bit. Haha

19. Probably the Beta and some GH2. Also I have to finish the last race on NFS:Carbon to complete the career, so I'll probably do that.

Waiting on Demo/reviews of Shadowrun before I make an "impulse" buy.

20. I got my racing chair and Forza is in my tray.
But when I want to play somthing els its Rainbow. I have Shadowrun but it's not my type of game but maybe that will change when I get better at it.
