Confirmed: Alien Hominid coming next week

In an interview with 1UP, Aaron Greenberg had to defend the XBLA and its somewhat inconsistant release schedule. While talking about the future of the XBLA Greenberg confirmed the release of Alien Hominid stating "we are excited to bring Alien Hominid out next week; we are excited to make up for lost time". Now, if that's not a release date confirmation we don't know what is. Greenberg also went on to say that at this year's Game Developer's Conference we'll be seeing a bunch of playable arcade games, announcements, and never before seen titles. But that's a little too far into the future, the real news is that Alien Hominid is releasing next week!.

[Thanks, Brian]

1. Yes! I have been waiting for this game for a long time now. Hope online play is good. Now, if you can just get Castle Crashers, then that would be great.

2. I heard there's no online coop, is this true?

3. Apparently OXM has reviewed the game in their latest issue, and pointed out a lack of online co-op. Pretty disappointing, since that seems to be the only major feature besides HD separating the game from the console versions. Next! (How about Catan?)

4. Yeah..at least one of the decent games are hiting finally..let's hope it's followed by a stream of Castlevania Symphony of The Night, Castle Crashers, Worms then Catan. Let's see them get back on the freakin' ball here!

5. Oh thank God! My wife has been bugging me since they announced this and I can finally tell her I will have it to play this week. I'm not that upset about online play. I am not an online gamer. Most games I play I am only playing to experience the single player aspect.

6. No online co-op kinda sucks. I assume the offline still has two-player, right? Did the review mention being able to collect the hats? The PDA minigames seem kinda lame though, so I won't cry if those are not in the XBLA port.

7. Castle Crashers is months off. Didn't The Behemoth said it probably won't arrive before July?

I've got a great idea for the arcade team. Why not work on actually releasing the titles they've announced? You know, instead of continuing to promise titles that never see the light of day. I know some developers need some help, but there are no excuses regarding some titles and lack of information.

Let's take a gander

Hoopsworld - Absolutely nothing formal since E3. Outside of the occasional Streamline Studio memo, I figured the game was trashed.

Carcassonne and Alhambra - Absolutely nothing regarding these titles since their announcement nearly six months ago.

Sonic The Hedgehog: High Speed - We saw a clip during the E3 montage, never to hear about it again.

The Slew of Atari Classics/Redux Canessa promised - I guess his "Oh we'll have one a month starting in January" was a fantastic lisp laden lie.

Sensible World of Soccer - Again. Just an announcement and nothing more.

Street Trace: NYC - The developers implied the game was finishing up and it failed to make the list of 10. Where is it?

Mad Tracks - Thankfully, the development team has kept the community updated regarding its release. I would have just assumed it had disappeared.

The other assorted Konami releases - Wasn't Gyruss on the verge of release? What happened to Track & Field?

Mutant Storm Empire - Didn't Canessa announce this as a Holiday 2006 release? I haven't heard anything about it in months from either party.

I think the Microsoft Casual Games site is heading in the right direction, but we need more than just a shared site. The head of the Arcade team should set up a Major Nelson-esque blog and inform us what is happening with the team. Even if its flooded with a slew of "WERE IS WORMZ?" or "I WNAT CASTLAVANIA!!", it'd be alot nicer than the cold shoulder we're getting now.

8. Sorta figured it would be next, since NewGrounds has started advertising it so much.

I'm happy as hell :)
