IGN has posted an extensive 8 page interview with the ever boastful Cliff Bleszinski. In the interview CliffyB discusses the success of Gears of War and take time to discuss the future of the game and potential sequels. Of particular interest is his discussion of forthcoming downloadable content. While no specific content or date is announced, CliffyB assures us that something is coming and that we should get some news about it soon. He notes that the possibilities for such content are very broad -- new maps, new multiplayer modes, improved matchmaking, etc -- but declines to give any specific details. Furthermore, Cliffy discusses the possibilities of expanding the GOW franchise into other media, from movies to graphic novels to lunch boxes.Cliffy also takes time to defend the story of Gears of War, essentially saying that Epic never intended to have gamers "beaten over the head with story," preferring to think of GOW as a big budget, summer action flick. Primarily, Cliffy leaves us with the knowledge that Epic plans to support GOW for a long time to come (presumably until a sequel arrives). Hit the "read" link for the full interview.

"IGN: Epic released an update that hides gamers' friends in ranked matches. And that solved the problem of ranked friends ganging up on other players. But now gamers are complaining that they can't find their friends in ranked matches any more."
No it didn't STOP them from finding there friends in ranked matches any more, it just made it a tiny bit harder to find them. People are still stacking teams in ranked matches and it sux. Why cant Cliffy B just tell us that they are going to fix this problem or not fix it, instead of his stupid answer, "But any type of changes like that are TBD (to be determined). If there were a potential sequel or an update, it's true, it's something we would have liked to had in the beginning"
Give me a break, it's broken so fix it!!! Now not in a sequel!!!

It's like the gaming community has found their Britney Spears. WTF. What the hell does this guy do? Not beating us over the head with plot...and having a plot are very different things. Maybe I'm getting old. But it seems like if Gears are the way of games to come, I'll pass. For instance, any sequel will be a rent, not a buy. Snackfood games. And I wish 'Cliffy' would end his 15 minutes and we can move on with complaining about a lack of quality content on any of the consoles.

The guy doing the interview needs to be punched in the throat. Half of the interview was him asking the same questions again, as if he was going to get a different answer the 3rd time or half arguing with him over design decisions. A good read otherwise.

JSN is right: the interviewer sucked. I honestly think CliffyB was getting annoyed. He was basically arguing with the designer over the decisions he made.
But yea, good read. I'm curious to see how long he stays in the spotlight.

yeah, Interviewer definitely needs a punch to the face. 7 questions about the chainsaw, I'd snap. Greatest melee ever created, and he's busting his balls over it.
Sounds like he sucks on multiplayer, and wants answers from cliffy as to why.
