Hot on the heels of the official UK release date comes the news that Two Worlds has become a true massively multiplayer online game. Previously restricted to 8 players online, Two Worlds will now accommodate thousands of players online at one time. Players will be able to form groups competing to solves quests, fight in the arena, form armies, or simply enjoy a pint in the virtual pub. Not mentioned is whether or not a monthly fee will be instituted now that the game has become an MMOG.
If you've been looking for an alternative to the twitch action of Gears and Rainbow Six, Two Worlds might just be the game you've been looking for. The idea of an open ended online RPG in the style of Oblivion makes us positively giddy. How about you, are you looking forward to Two Worlds now that it's an MMOG?
[Thanks, milkmanjb]

Ok. But, I'm not paying for this monthly.
Forget it. It will be part of my XBL subscription or else I'm not buying it.

"Online players of Two Worlds will now be able to join parties that are competing against others to solve quests, battle other players in the arena to gain glory, form armies to storm enemy cities, arrange and compete in horse races, or simply socialize in a medieval pub."
You know... it doesn't sound all that bad... And I hate MMO's.
I wouldn't mind going online with some friends and walking into a pub and then challenging some guys to a match in a closed space. And limiting the space to thousands rather than tens of thousands is good, because you probably won't see as many people around you, but I don't know how many thousands, I'm just guessing. It sounds like it's not PvP, and it's all online co-op. This all would make the game more "realistic" through interactivity.

If the gameplay can be action without lag that would be great. Lets wait and see what it will look like when it's playable.

Johnny: ditto again. I want to be able to play only with my friends, not the retards that make up the bulk of Live users.

I heard that just the PC version will be an MMO. The xbox 360 version will still only support up to 8 players

Yea, i agree with the above, paying monthly when we already pay for xbox live and high game prices, come on. As far as the more open online, as long as they have some sort of party system so i can get up with just friends, and also make it so that random folks cant just come up and kill me and take all my stuff then im IN fo sho

You know, they might even just be approaching this like Guild Wars.
1000s of players online at any time, but you'll only see them in towns and such that act like lobbies. The actual quests have limits on the amount of players (let's say 8) and are instanced.
Something like that would work well for this game, I think.

I was psyched about this game before. Now I'm not so sure. Restricted on one system but not the other?
As an 8-player co-op, it seemed great. Now as a scaled-down MMO, it has a different STIGMA. Also, a change in general direction of the whole project is an ominous sign.
I'm going to have to adopt a very cautious mindset towards this game now.

Talk about adding wildly random variables to an equation.
What I am hoping for is not an "Massive Multiplayer" but a "Massivly OPEN" game. Test Drive Unlimited pioneered the style and it worked fairly well.

even tho guild wars was free online.
I played it for about a week before I dropped it.
This game going down the path og guild wars will probably yeild the same results.
You cant really Geek out like you could potentially do when this was limited to 8 players.
