Halo 3 is set to have multitudes of customizable options for multiplayer. It should have many, many more than Halo 2 in fact. One of these options is adjustable gravity. Frankie, KP, and company recently tested this feature out during the latest Halo 3 Humpday Challenge. Testing it out on Snowbound, Bungie tried out two game types with 50% percent gravity. The first match was a rockets match. Similar to tactics used on Halo 2's Colossus map, players would spend as much time as possible in the air, thus reducing the possibility of a splash damage kill and forcing opponents to make a direct hit. While the crew notes that it wasn't that much different from a regular rockets match, it did provide for an extra layer of strategy and timing. It's also worth mentioning that once everyone runs out of ammo, the game transforms into epic, anime-style air battles, with each player trying to melee the other as they pass.
The second match was shotguns and sniper rifles. This match played much differently, as the low gravity does wonders to put you out of shotgun range, but also makes you an easy target for any sniper worth his salt. As such, shotgun players often found themselves not being killed by those they were dueling, but by snipers in the distance. Nice.
Options like adjustable gravity (and many others) should go a long way to keeping Halo 3 a fresh experience. Are there any cool custom options you'd like to see?

I hate games that allow you to adjust gravity but any bullets/rockets/gernades that are used have the exact same gravitational pull as they would with normal gravity.

Too bad the gravity bit's not really new info. It was buried in all the other info from November:

Regardless, it's going to make for some interesting variations.

Sparkstalker,
No, the gravity itself isn't news, but this is the first time Bungie has talked about its application in an actual match. Figured it was worth pointing out.

I think I used an option like this in one of the unreal games. It was awesome! Adds to interesting types of battles. Killing someone while they are hovering is awesome, I like being able to do that. OMG, adding some extra options that lame asses like to call lame is LAME!! Who wants extra options? People who want more open ended options are in the same category. LAME!

Halo is an FPS that incorporates a lotta different elements from other games. It evolves on those ideas or innovates with new gameplay elements. I hate the shit people give such a good franchise.

can't wait to jump even higher
then in halo 2 with normal gravity
imagine being able to evade aperson by jumping over them and getting blown sky high by the spike grendade or rocket launcher
but it could also falter the game
since it'd be like a whole bunch of master chiefs on bouncy balls
awesome
