Rule of Three: Play Halo 2 with us!

We wouldn't be Xbox 360 Fanboys if we weren't going to try our luck at the "Rule of Three" Halo 3 beta program. As such, we'll be playing a lot of Halo 2 over the next three days. So, keep an eye out for us on Halo 2. We won't necessarily be playing together, but we'll definitely be doing our best to rack up the required three hours. Why not have some fun with our readers while we're at it, right?

If you see us online, say hi. We'll play a few matches and have a good time. Who knows, maybe the 360 Fanboy nation will all make it into the beta. See you online.

Am I the only one that thinks it makes sense to just sell the Halo 3 demo by itself? Why not? For say $10 they could make a shitload of money for just a beta. And you know that everyone would buy Halo 3 when it comes out anyway.

It makes perfect sense, instead of making a measly $10 for the beta, they are making $60.

sorry but i think this is lame to make fans jump through all these hoops, and all because they WANT HELP beta testing the multiplayer? Isn't tha like free labor? They should give everyone who helps out a discount or something. I mean really, I did the registering thing, but logging hours in halo 2? I think that's weird, and including a beta key in crackdown is just manipulative. Sorry, just being honest. I'd be happy to help beta test it, but I can wait for cryin out loud.

@AGreen BHM - That would be great for them, except that you have to provide support for something that you charge for and you have to be responsible about damages that it might cause, especially pre-release software - so, no, they couldn't do that.

Game demo's are available on the market place for no charge. Why would microsoft not take advantage of such a popular game and use it to make their wallets fat! Rather then release it for free( Like all other demos) they are using all the hype behind halo 3 to make moreeeeeee money. They are making it seem like its a free add on when you buy crackdown, mean while it should be on the marketplace for no charge at all. Maybe im wrong but microsot is greeeeeeeedy.;|

It makes sense, buisness sense and fanboy sense. It's unfortunate it'll cost consumers and fan bases $$ to just TEST a game, but if that game has such a rabid following like Halo, they would be dumb to overlook such a lucrative possibility such as selling tickets to stand in line to play it. It all boils down to supply and demand. People are craving something, and no supplier gives something for nothing. The only benefit to have offered the Halo beta for free would have been word of mouth; something last on the 'needs' list for Bungie right now. At one point I was wondering if this was a 'cover charge' to keep the riffraff out, but I think the servers will be able to handle everything tossed at them.

Bungie feels as if they rule the gaming world, and when it comes to Microsoft gamers, truth be told they sort of do. They owe us nothing in thier perspective, and they feel that the hardcore gamers and fans of Halo would have spent almost any amount of money to simply beta test the game for them. There's a sense of ownership perhaps in beta testing a blockbuster app here for many people, and people would spend money to feel as if they're in that high profile community and play something 'early' before the mass public does. I think Halo fans are making out amazing with three chances to get in the beta and only bieng charged $10 to test it, personally. Bungie could have charged the full game price to test it, and you know many people would be camping outside Gamestop to play it. I'm not one of them; I reserved Crackdown for Crackdown actually!

Lastly, Would you expect to have free advance showings of Spider-Man 3? it would add nothing to Sony and help them in no needed way. The movie will make mad cash regardless. They could actually charge money to show early footage..I'm glad they haven't thought of it!

The wait for Halo 3 took so damn long now I'd buy Crackdown for the game and I'd probably just see the beta as a bonus to the game. Some are actually seeing Crackdown as a bonus to buying the beta, what is that? Wasting a crap load of money.
