GOW glitch: delayed chainsaw death

Posted Jan 24th 2007 9:30AM by Richard Mitchell

In Joystiq's latest game video of the day, we have yet another new glitch in Gears of War. This glitch gives you the ability to manually "detonate" another player, causing them to explode. In reality, you're just tricking the game into causing a delayed chainsaw death. The glitch involves a lot of weapon switching and a troika, and it's not particularly useful, but at least it's fun to watch. Frankly, we enjoy actually playing the game, but different strokes for different folks, right? Check out the video after the break.

If you'd like to try this yourself, instructions can be found on the video's YouTube page.

4. This game is unbelievably broken. If it wasn't so damn amazing and fun to play the magazine reviewers would have shredded it.

5. Lol, now I won't have to wade through 30 emails from 'Service' to
figure out which links I've activated.

These Youtube videos of game
glitches really know how to flog a dead horse. Yeah, it's cool seeing
the glitch a few times, but when everyone makes these goddamn 20
minute videos with the most appalling soundtracks, that's really what
makes me laugh.

GoW also suffers from what I call 'Pond Lag'; if I play
anyone from the States, there's always a 1 second delay between the
shotgun firing and actually making contact. Whcih usually means, I
get killed a lot because I haven't fired fast enough.

In short, yeah,
loads of bugs, yadda yadda.

8. Hehe, always fun picking holes in stuff like this.

One issue i've noted is the one that when trying to find a 'custom match' online, I love to play 'execution' games.

However, when scrolling accross the game type menu its all in the wrong order, so I have to scroll 5 slots, its somthing like this.

War ---> Assasination ---> War ---> Assasination --- Execution!

Anyone else have that choice when defining thier search options?

But for all its fault GOW is one of the most astounding games titles to be released in all game history, and it'll definatly be chalked up in the hall of fame.
