Lumines LiveAID

Here's a promotional gimmick for the folks behind Xbox Live Arcade: Give away a free component of Lumines Live for every baby Madonna steals from Africa. This could be followed by a charity tournament to help the kids she doesn't turn into human accessories. Maybe it's a bad idea, but so is ripping off the gaming public with this offensively piecemeal game.

I completely disagree. I think that what we have now is WELL above what we get from most XBLA games, and the extra pieces being optional are fine. Sure, they could have packaged the game together in a month with all the pieces of content for around $30, but either way you're paying what the game is worth. Lumines Live is worth the $20ish I spent on it (yes, I bought the advance pack). What I have a problem with is old school arcade games getting crapped out every week. I love Cloning Clyde, Hexic, and now Lumines Live. Give me new games over friggin' Frogger any day. I'll pay $20 for a brand new game before I pay $5 for another half baked arcade port.

I HAVE SPOKEN.

What I find delicious about this whole situation was the number of news sites and blogs that mocked anyone who would challenge the cost of the game, but then do a 180 and ask for pitchforks to join in on the fun.

Heres what happened (Miz = Lumines dev)...

Miz: we need to sell Lumines for S25 to recoup our costs and make a bit of money

MS: fock you, the XBL cap is $15; if we let you charge more then other devs will want to charge more...that's price inflation and thats not what XBL is about ...

Miz: but, ok, ... we'll release on disc then ..

MS: fock you, we're trying to promote XBL as a place to download more than retro games dude, we aint giving you a licence to release that on disc.. its XBL or nothing..you just wasted all that time to develop that game for nothing (evil laugh)

Miz: but, ok, ... what the fock do you want us to do?

MS: here's what you focking do; break the game into pieces, sell the first piece for $15 ... now, heres the beautiful part, give the users the "choice" of buying th rest of the bits to complete the game ... so, in the end they pay $30 in total ..see? see?

Miz: but, we said we only need $25 to recoo...

MS: fock you, the $5 goes to MS.... if anyone starts b!tching just tell them its a new dilevery method and that the user is being EMPOWERED by having the choice to by the (wink wink) option bits ..now stfu and get to work ..

microsoft has no control on how much points a certain game costs except for the games they create... the total point cost is up to the developer

"human accessories". thanks for summing up how I feel about all these celebrities playing Mail Order Bride on babies from 3rd World Countries. I guess Madonna couldn't live with the idea of having some White priviledge baby so she had to adopt some ethnic ones. That bitch and Angelina need to get donkey punched heavily down there.

oh, i'm diggin the Trial version of Lumines. May just have to buy it.
