Jeff Foxworthy's television game show "hit" will be releasing to the Xbox Live Arcade this week in the form of Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?: Make The Grade.
For 1200 Microsoft points (OUCH!), Are You Smarter will test your 5th grader intelligence using 6,000 school-aged questions spread across 21 various school subjects and plenty of Foxworthy humor (for good or bad). Are You Smarter also sports online and local multiplayer for up to four players.
Yes, it's expensive and it's extremely niche, but we're sure it'll satisfy someone in the XBLA market. Let's just hope the game is redneck joke free.

Sometimes I think 1200 points is justified. This isn't one of those times.

Why do I get the feeling that, after this, we'll be seeing Pong for 1200 points?

Really? If this doesn't convince you that the XBLA prices are going up for the sake of going up, nothing will.

First question:
"did you really pay 1200 Microsoft points for this? You are NOT smarter than a fifth grader"
Then the interlude:
"You know you might be a redneck if you bought a game featuring Jeff Foxworthy"

I didn't buy Castle Crashers
I didn't buy Penny Arcade
I didn't buy Portal
I didn't buy Braid
What makes companies think I'll pay 15 dollars for a POS game like this. I mean, if it had Vision support, or Primetime, and came on a disc, then maybe. MAYBE. But I will not shell out 15 bucks for a file.

Good. Someone pointed out Penny Arcade hypocrisy. Once a second edition comes out, this game will be $50. It is no longer a bargain or a "great" deal, as Orange Box is now $30, and it's only been out a little over a year. Do you REALLY like PA will cut their price in half after a year? Only a handful of XBLA games have shown ANY discount. You'd think the moment a sequel became available (Geometry Wars, Feeding Frenzy, Assault Heroes) the original should have the price cut in half.

Good point talking Penny Arcade. I thought after the 1600 points ripoff the following episodes would be cheaper, in the 400ish range, but nope. 1200? So... a bit quick math:
1600+(3x1200)=5200 MSP, which is about 62 Euros. And for that, I can get Orange Box AND Oblivion GOTY.
I for one will drastically cut back on my XBLA purchases if the trend continues. 600 MSP for the Puzzle Quest addon or the ridiculously overpriced Ticket To Ride "add ons" is not funny anymore.

Uh, wasn't this supposed to use Avatars? Or was that only 1 vs. 100? I may be getting my new wave game shows mixed up. It's still all about the motherfuckin' Press Your Luck to me.

You are talking about 1 vs. 100 which will be using Avatars when the New Xbox Experience comes out.
As for this game being 1200 points I am thinking now that most DLC games are going to be priced at $15. It used to be $9.99USD now people are jacking up the prices (same thing is happening on PSN). It disgusts me because the way I look at it, is last gen in the U.S. you could get a Greatest Hits, Platinum Hits, Players Choice (whatever system you own(ed)) for $20USD. Now you pay $15USD for a virtual piece of software thats smaller then a full disc based game......
On a side note I still think Penny Arcade is a real rip off since its done in Episode Content and the price will raise everytime you purchase a new episode and then MAYBE a bundle will come out in the future.

Is this the same game that is 39.99$ on the Wii? I think 800 points is way to much, but 1200!, come 'on.
