They should probably spend more time on making the game function well, look a LOT better, and have a lot more features than past generations of Madden.

And, 2k5 did celebrations 3 years ago.
Also, a gamestop blog with madden mondays. That must be fun

The EA Sports formula has always been to remove a feature for every new feature you add. Then in the following years they reintroduce previously removed features as "new."

First of all, this probably won't end up being as cool as it sounds, and second of all, this will be the only new feature added. I'd put money on it.

Lulz @ this "new" feature. I was forcing my players to do the cabbagepatch or spike the ball in Madden 95 for SNES. Glad to see this "new" feature in Madden 2009. Who do I need to throw my $60 at to get this wonderful innovation!?

Bang on. Ever since the feature-depleted Madden 06 debuted on 360 launch day, EA have been slowly feeding these old features back to us, along with the annual data update.
How much will the inevitable additional celebrations DLC cost, I wonder...?

Madden 08 was the best football game ever made, period, and I am not an EA fan whatsoever.
Hopefully it will only get better.

this is great but mabye in madden 09 when you press the "hurry up" button, the players will actually hurry up not only to the line, but also to start the play.

I will give kudos to EA if they allow you orchestrate such an elaborate celebration that you get fined by the league.

Ouch. They really just have no shame, do they? They're not even pretending to care about the actual football gameplay anymore.

@ Ant: "Madden 08 isthe best football game ever"?? You truly deprived of variety when it comes to football games. The entire Madden franchise has been a football video game according to EA standards which arcade style shoved down the throat year after year. Madden has never been a great game to be considered a football simulator like ESPN NFL 2K series has been. NFL 2K5 is still better than any Madden game to date. This "new" celebration user controlled feauture is EA's way of laughing at the dumb loyalists who will buy it any way and say how great this game is and also to laugh at Visual Concept and 2K Sports because they have exclusive NFL license till 2013. EA's Madden division is by far the most under talented group of developers in this gaming genre ever. I will be following the Gamestop bloging updates just see how lame each so called new feature has been added to the already pathetic Madden game.

So when will 2K sports finally realize that an NFL license isn't the end-all to making a good football game?
Since I thrive on franchise mode, and most of my players are fictional by the 3rd or 4th year in anyways, I couldn't care less about an NFL license. I would be happy to be the Miami Flamingos if it meant having a good football game to play.
I refuse to play Madden. Ever.

@Ant: guy get real.. what about Madden is better than the NFL 2K series including APF 2K8??? Please explain each detail... don't come at me with tehBest Buy $2 crap... 2K5 was only $20!! and its nearly sold as much as Madden and EA was soooo fucking nervous of losing its loyal numb nuts that they said "let's make a better game we have to do something..." then someone in the camp said "wait... we can't make a better game?? how the hell do we do that?? I got it we'll use our buying power to purchase the NFL license for exclusivity and no one will be able to use for footbal simulators and we can continue to make the same game year after year with animations from 1995 where the guys run straight up even when youmake a sharp turn... our gameplay, features, presnetation will continue to suck as we continue to suck the money right out of the wallets of those stupid loyal bastards who yearn for a new Madden cover and nothing new"
So it worked... it worked well cause there are millions of numb nuts just like ANt and nerrrrrrrd who actually think Madden is a better footbal game than the 2K series.. again please reply back with all features (gameplay, presentation, customization, graphics (oh God the graphics)) that Madden has over ESPN NFL 2K5 or All Pro Football? List them all... and I guarantee you will make a complete ass out of yourself on this comment string.
