Gears of War 2, it's still a mad world

Remember that ~~Tears~~ Gears of War trailer that got you all teary-eyed? No? Oh, us either. But we do remember that Mad World trailer that was all the rage when the Gears of War hype train was hitting the retail station. Sparing no time at all 2P Start! has remixed the teaser trailer for Gears of War 2 to include the song. It still gets us every time, but you know in a kick-ass kinda way and not the pass-the-the-box-of-tissues way. Seriously. We were chopping onions okay? Jeez.

[Thanks Tim, via 2P START!]

The song worked great for the original trailer but this is a terrible combo.

Also I hope we can actually duel with chainsaws and do that chainsaw stab in the back in the final game.

Not very good. The music doesn't really match up with what's happening in the video. I know it was a quick-and-dirty job, but this isn't even worth uploading.

I actually thought the video matched up well. I guess it's just me, but when it said "familiar faces" and it shows a close up of the chainsaw, I thought it was very fitting. The line "dreams when I am dying..." takes place as the locust is dying. It's not as good as the real commercial, but I think it still works here.

Oh, no one told you Megadeth sucked?

You should know that by now.

Just because the song was called Gears of War doesn't mean it will automatically sound good with the game.

If Britney Spears released a song inspired Gears of War would you petition to have it added to the GoW2 soundtrack as well?

Hopefully the powers that be on this one understand that video game soundtracks are pretty bad to begin with, and we really don't need to lower the bar any further with Megadeth...

Two comments: it's awesome how the TIMING fits, but the song doesn't exactly fit, if you get my meaning.

It's funny though- I actually want to go back and buy a used copy of GoW now and replay it. I sold my original copy during the Halo 3 Beta; I couldn't mentally switch between both games back then.

Oh..after seeing the tech demo (caught it on IGN today), I have high hopes for GoW 2! The 'cube of meat' and the liquid metal technology is pretty fecking killer..not to mention the environmental destruction capabilities.

@ AnOffDay...

the song is called 'Mad World' by Gary Jules, and not actually 'Gears of War'. The song was originally chosen for the first game to talk about the 'destroyed beauty' portrayed in the game environment.

@Magic:

You're a bit confused. Gary Jules' "Mad World" is not what they're discussing here. They're discussing Megadeth's "Gears of War".
