Thanks to X3F tipster therza2169, we've been graced with next week's Circuit City retail flyer (November 2nd - November 8th) and within' its digital pages is a very special Gears of War 2 offer. Buy Gears 2 and get 1600 Microsoft points FREE!
The free 1600 Microsoft deal goes into effect on Gears 2's release (Friday, November 7th) and is available with both regular and limited editions. Interesting too is the fact that you can score a free $10 gift card with a Gears 2 pre-order, so there's a possibility you could pre-order the game at Circuit City now and receive both the gift card and Microsoft points for free. Though, we aren't certain about the logistics of such a method, so we'll say YMMV. Now we must decide, a free Gears 2 Centaur RC tank at Best Buy or free Microsoft points at Circuit City. Decisions, decisions.
[Thanks, therza2169]

decisions, decisions! I've heard that you get a $15 gift card with purchase at Toys R Us, but I might have to bite on the CC deal instead.

Looks like I know where I'll be picking up my copy of GOW2. ;)
Nice find!
Considering that 1600 ms points retails at around $20, this is a pretty slick deal.

Are they both doing midnight releases, Circuit City and Best Buy? And do they come with gold plated in-game weapons codes like Gamestop is getting?
I mean I'd consider the RC truck thing if Best Buy is going to be open at midnight. God knows I hate supporting Gamestop.

Son of a bitch. I just pre-ordered at Best Buy last week to get that truck. Now I don't know if I should cancel and pre-order it at circuit city.

My suggestion to you would be to wait until morning and then go get the game.

Just buy it at your midnight release store, then go pick it up from CC later on and return the un-opened CC copy to your midnight release store for your full refund....problem solved

Tempting, but I'm just going to head over to Target and pick up the game at 8am (I'll be out of town with my gf who is taking a dental class that weekend, but near a mall and there's a 42 inch plasma in the hotel room), instead of waiting in line at CC or BB at 10am. I'll be through chapter 1 by the time anyone waiting for that gift card gets home.
I did the same thing when RB 2 came out. Drove past BB on my way to Target and saw the line forming already and laughed. I walked into Target, picked up the game and went home to play.

I agree, Target's usually pretty good...There's been a few times when I went with a friend to BB to pick up a game, and in some way or another BB screwed us over. So we just walked down to Target.
Plus, their sales people don't hassle you over and over.

Anyone know how long GOW2 will be? I was a bit disappointed in how short GOW1 was, so I want to be sure its worth it.

Not sure on the length. I heard there is a lot more story though.

I've heard that it's noticably longer (that's what she said) and with much more varied missions (that's what ... she ... said?).
Not as much repetition in this one, which will be sweet. I like when they shake up the levels and do new things.

i finished it in around 8hrs spread across 2 days - the story is top notch & presented v.well - just dont get your hopes up on a great ending.
Remember, these are the ppl that brought you UT3, & they really dont seem to know how to end a game.
