The Call of Duty 4 versus Halo 3 drama took an interesting turn this week via an email sent out to CharlieOscarDelta.com subscribers yesterday (we got ours this morning). The email proudly proclaims "COD4:MW SOARS TO THE NUMBER ONE SPOT!!!" Obviously, the email is referring to Major Nelson's listing of the top Live games for the week of January 14, in which Call of Duty 4 managed to knock Halo 3 off the number one spot. What's funny is that the same list for the week of January 21, released two days ago, revealed that Halo 3 has once again claimed the top spot. We'd suggest that Activision put a little grease on the PR machine's gears the next time one of their games snags the number one Live spot.

I will tell you what is not funny. Why are we still waiting on a multiplayer patch to fix the hosting and other various issues?? It was supposed to be out in the month of December! WTF?

The patch hasn't even been released to MS yet for certification. They are still working out bugs on the host migration.

..yet still without any update warning message and console rebooting the matchmaking list has changed with few add-ons and splits (as for the veteran deathmatch/search and destroy) as promised.. that was wierd

I find this appalling bungie would never and i repeat never brag about being number one to all thier fans. I was playing COD but now that i see they will do this if they are number one ill gladly play halo bungie is a way better developer and they now have my respect.

This is no different. I signed up for Charlie Oscar Delta so I could hear random game related crap. If I didn't want it anymore, I would opt out. Just like if I didn't want to read it on X3F, I would skips.

I also received the noted e-mail - it went on to say that COD 4 won in sales for 07... I thought that Sales Champion Crown (or Halo...) was Halo's?

Actually, I was talking with a colleague about this today and we think we figured it out. Microsoft's 8.1 million copies of Halo copies sold to stores. COD4 was sold to actual people.
Either that, or Activision is just wrong.

Activision must just have some sort of Filter on their internet that removes the phrase "Halo 3" from everything they read on the internet. First, they claim that GH3 is the #1 selling game, then CoD4, even though it was obvious Halo 3 had sold more, now this? Jesus. Maybe they should start hiring people who actually do some research before posting this crap.
